End of an Era at Anfield
  • When you look at the state of Man United today, with their worst ever Prem-era finish, it really hammers home what a mess Ferguson left them in, with an aging squad and very little basis for the next stage.

No matter what happens under Slot, nobody can say that Klopp has repeated that mistake.

  • End of an Era at Anfield
  • He's been amazing, it's a very sad day.

I liked what he was saying though about it being a beginning. He's left Slot a very good, if not perfect, team, with a combination of very talented and experienced pros who still have years left in them, and a load of great young players who have shown that they can step up when needed.

Not many managers get to leave on their own terms like this, and I'm glad he has been able to. Well played Jürgen.

  • Lots of times the restaurants won't even have milk
  • Well yeah, exactly.

  • Lots of times the restaurants won't even have milk
  • Wouldn't they have milk available for coffee? Unless they only offered cream, I guess.

Either way, silly that you couldn't order some.

  • UK hospitals have been excellent in my experience, though I've obviously only seen some of them.

Plus, although our system is very different from America in theory, our government has, for decades (especially under the Conservative Party), been undermining the NHS through cuts, market-based policy decisions and creeping attempts at privatisation.

If the NHS was supported the way it deserves to be, it would be even better than it already is.

  • Some, sure. And they are indeed acting like flat earthers. I think they're likely to be the minority though and they're not acting like scientists if they do that.

On the Other place, one of my favourite time killers was to go through the various subs devoted to identifying music/movies/books/etc based on small clips, screenshots or even just descriptions.

Don't think there are equivalents on Lemmy, but TipOfMyTongue can kind of serve that purpose :-)

Feature suggestion - enable swiping between multiple photos in a post/comment

    Example post: https://lemmy.world/post/14058825

I've no idea if this is technically possible at all, but on posts like the one above, where multiple images have been added, it would be really handy to be able to swipe between them as if they were in a gallery. At present it's a case of open one, close it, open the next, etc...

Same for comments, not sure if that would be different than posts.

    Thanks :-)

    A few bugs/suggestions

Really enjoying Radio Lemmy, have had it on almost constantly :-)

After using the site a few times, I noted a few things that might be worth looking at - not meant as criticism, just some ideas.

    Suggestions:

    • Freeze pagination tools of auto DJ library - would make it easier to navigate on mobile when scrolling down the song list. At the moment, when you scroll, you can't see the controls

    • Make the song request message popups (green for accept/red for reject) always appear onscreen as overlays instead of at a fixed point on the page - at present they're not visible when user is scrolled down, especially on mobile

    • Is there a way to filter the library by genre/artist? I can't seem to find it, apologies if I'm being dense.

    • It would be cool to be able to sort the library by date added - so we could see what new songs have been uploaded

    Bugs:

    • When sending a song suggestion it refreshes the page, stopping the music stream. Any way to prevent that?
    • I noticed that some songs have duplicate info - eg Pulp - Disco 2000, Stromae - Alors On Danse, and possibly more

    !

Any way to go back to the pre-Android 14 file picker?

I really don't like the file picker now - when sharing images or anything else, it shows inconsistent and incomplete lists of folders, and although I can then choose to go to Browse and pick that way, I'd rather just have that by default. Anyone know if it's possible?

Mike Dean admits avoiding VAR call to spare referee ‘more grief’ last season

    >Mike Dean has admitted he failed to correct a mistake in a Chelsea v Tottenham match last season to prevent his friend Anthony Taylor receiving extra “grief”.

    > The former Premier League referee Dean was on VAR duty at Stamford Bridge in August 2022 when Chelsea wanted the Spurs defender Cristian Romero sent off for pulling Marc Cucurella to the floor by his hair. Dean says he made a “really bad call” in not sending Taylor to review his decision.

Why would he do that? And why on earth would he admit it later??

Small UI suggestion - move sort label to the srot button

Others may disagree, but every time I find myself wanting to change the sort type, I tap the area circled on the left. But this opens the menu to switch between Subscribed/Local/All - instead I should be tapping the three lines on the right.

Would it maybe make sense to have "Hot", "New", etc appear with those lines instead?

    No biggie, just an idea.
