When you look at the state of Man United today, with their worst ever Prem-era finish, it really hammers home what a mess Ferguson left them in, with an aging squad and very little basis for the next stage.
No matter what happens under Slot, nobody can say that Klopp has repeated that mistake.
He's been amazing, it's a very sad day.
I liked what he was saying though about it being a beginning. He's left Slot a very good, if not perfect, team, with a combination of very talented and experienced pros who still have years left in them, and a load of great young players who have shown that they can step up when needed.
Not many managers get to leave on their own terms like this, and I'm glad he has been able to. Well played Jürgen.
Calvin's parents are saints for never (as far as I know) snapping and saying, "Hobbes isn't real!!"
I've not had it, but someone (who also likes regular Guinness) told me that Guinness zero was genuinely great. Need to check it out sometime.
Fair points. And, of course, I've never been in a US hospital, so they may be like Xanadu in comparison :-)
Most definitely.
Well yeah, exactly.
Wouldn't they have milk available for coffee? Unless they only offered cream, I guess.
Either way, silly that you couldn't order some.

UK hospitals have been excellent in my experience, though I've obviously only seen some of them.
Plus, although our system is very different from America in theory, our government has, for decades (especially under the Conservative Party), been undermining the NHS through cuts, market-based policy decisions and creeping attempts at privatisation.
If the NHS was supported the way it deserves to be, it would be even better than it already is.
Any "separate the art from the artist" argument falls apart when the pedo artist's art is about the crime.

No need to apologise mate, sorry if my answer came across as curt, wasn't intended that way :-)
Some, sure. And they are indeed acting like flat earthers. I think they're likely to be the minority though and they're not acting like scientists if they do that.
For anyone in this position, don't forget !tipofmytongue@lemmy.world - maybe someone can help identify what you're after.
On the Other place, one of my favourite time killers was to go through the various subs devoted to identifying music/movies/books/etc based on small clips, screenshots or even just descriptions.
Don't think there are equivalents on Lemmy, but TipOfMyTongue can kind of serve that purpose :-)
I wonder if that'll be USA only or if the UK and elsewhere will get it too. Hopefully the latter.
To be fair, it might come down to personal preference - I'm not talking so much about how well or badly VAR is used. I'm talking about its use at all. I just hate the way it punctuates the game.
Premier League clubs will vote on whether to scrap video assistant referees (VAR) from next season at their annual general meeting next month.
Oh please, oh please, oh please, oh please... 🤞🤞🤞
Jack Nicholson, Charles Bronson and Robert De Niro were some of the actors whose careers he helped develop.
RIP Roger, thanks for Gunslinger, The Undead, Deathstalker and the Warriors from Hell and so many more.
The Football Supporters’ Association hit out at renewed talk of plans to stahge Premier League games outside England and Wales after Richard Masters had said ‘the door looks ajar’
FFS, not this bullshit again... Hopefully fan pressure can fight it off just like last time.

I've no idea if this is technically possible at all, but on posts like the one above, where multiple images have been added, it would be really handy to be able to swipe between them as if they were in a gallery. At present it's a case of open one, close it, open the next, etc...
Same for comments, not sure if that would be different than posts.
Thanks :-)
Plans to introduce blue cards to send players to a sin-bin are to be unveiled by Ifab
TLDR - Blue cards will be for dissent and cynical fouls. Two blues means red. Blue plus yellow also equals red.
Weird.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is to step down from the role at the end of the season, saying he is "running out of energy".
😬 😲 😢
Preview followed by live coverage of Wednesday's EFL Cup game between Fulham and Liverpool.
Great news for Liverpool and for Scotland! Fingers crossed he comes through the rest of the season unscathed and leads us to glory in Germany!
Referees' chief Howard Webb says Liverpool should have been awarded a penalty in their game with Arsenal when Martin Odegaard handled in the area.
Wow, VAR screwing up, who'd have thought?
Match of the Day's Gary Lineker says he feels "guilty" for supporting the introduction of the Video Assistant Referee to the Premier League.
As someone who was against VAR from the start, I'm pleased to see someone as high profile as Lineker come out and admit he was wrong about it and has changed his mind. Fingers crossed this continues and we can start to move towards getting rid of it.
Trent Alexander-Arnold scores an 88th-minute winner as Liverpool mount a stunning late comeback to beat Fulham in a seven-goal thriller at Anfield.
What a game!! Absolute insanity and some unbelievable goals.
Everton receive an immediate 10-point deduction after being found to have breached the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules.
Wooft!
Really enjoying Radio Lemmy, have had it on almost constantly :-)
After using the site a few times, I noted a few things that might be worth looking at - not meant as criticism, just some ideas.
Suggestions:
-
Freeze pagination tools of auto DJ library - would make it easier to navigate on mobile when scrolling down the song list. At the moment, when you scroll, you can't see the controls
-
Make the song request message popups (green for accept/red for reject) always appear onscreen as overlays instead of at a fixed point on the page - at present they're not visible when user is scrolled down, especially on mobile
-
Is there a way to filter the library by genre/artist? I can't seem to find it, apologies if I'm being dense.
-
It would be cool to be able to sort the library by date added - so we could see what new songs have been uploaded
Bugs:
- When sending a song suggestion it refreshes the page, stopping the music stream. Any way to prevent that?
- I noticed that some songs have duplicate info - eg Pulp - Disco 2000, Stromae - Alors On Danse, and possibly more

I love football sometimes. Get it up you Bayern :-)
I really don't like the file picker now - when sharing images or anything else, it shows inconsistent and incomplete lists of folders, and although I can then choose to go to Browse and pick that way, I'd rather just have that by default. Anyone know if it's possible?

Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope.
Mike Dean has admitted he failed to correct a mistake in a Chelsea v Tottenham match last season to prevent his friend Anthony Taylor receiving extra ‘grief’
>Mike Dean has admitted he failed to correct a mistake in a Chelsea v Tottenham match last season to prevent his friend Anthony Taylor receiving extra “grief”.
> The former Premier League referee Dean was on VAR duty at Stamford Bridge in August 2022 when Chelsea wanted the Spurs defender Cristian Romero sent off for pulling Marc Cucurella to the floor by his hair. Dean says he made a “really bad call” in not sending Taylor to review his decision.
Why would he do that? And why on earth would he admit it later??
Others may disagree, but every time I find myself wanting to change the sort type, I tap the area circled on the left. But this opens the menu to switch between Subscribed/Local/All - instead I should be tapping the three lines on the right.
Would it maybe make sense to have "Hot", "New", etc appear with those lines instead?
No biggie, just an idea.
