What would you all reply to Alice Cooper, then?
I wanna love you but I better not touch (don't touch) I wanna hold you but my senses tell me to stop I wanna kiss you but I want it too much (too much) I wanna taste you but your lips are venomous poison
Hi folks. Some rightwing shithead uploaded an incorrect cover to LastFM for a song in my library. The cover is gone on LastFM now, but my Navidrome still displays the invalid one. There's probably caching in place in Navidrom - but how can I reset this cache? I know I can delete the cache directory, but is there a more targeted way to do this?
i respect it, but it has quite some way to go to be an alternative for me - as can be expected given the alpha status. I'll keep an eye on it, though!
did you succeed?
you could also see if you notice requests arriving in the navidrome logs somewhere...
well if navidrome doesn't listen to it, then no. you can still use it on the Apache listening side: example.com/music/ redirecting to http://127.0.0.1:4533/ that is. Give it a try.
i think you should loose the path on the right side.
but your proxy config redirects to that path. That sounds wrong, then. unless I don't get something here. (my reverse proxy is nginx, so ...)
just to clarify: you can access navidrome under http://127.0.0.1:4533/music/? That part works?
you could look into other ways of pirating, that don't necessarily require a vpn, instead. in may country it's mainly problematic to use torrents, because you automatically are sharing stuff as well. IRC is something that I never had a problem with, for example. you're only downloading and it doesn't cost you anything. there are xdcc search engines out there. The downsides are that it's a bit nerdy (is it a downside. though?) and you'll mostly find current mainstream content.
yeah exactly, i'd like to put my kids music there, for example. But I don't like to have it in my own library...
Yeah it's great. it works so well, it's almost boring! :) The only thing I'm really missing is multi library support. That would make a real difference for me.

what's the technical basis for this anyway? is it safe to use without a vpn (ie. is it using p2p connections). didn't find something immediately in the docs, maybe someone can shed some light?

Thanks! I'm using Tempo regularly and really like it.
I'm used to flipcases and there are some available now. But I liked none. They all felt cheap. I'm using the official FP4 flipcase now on the FP5, it fits almost perfectly and is the best option I found, so far.
that's a good idea. i have some of my configurations under version control, but mostly on codeberg. not sure how renovate integrates there...
Sure. But when do you do that? I find it useful to have the trigger of a social media post.
The bot consumes the atom feed of a repository, but I don't use a feed reader. you could also just let Github notify you for new releases. But I don't pay much attention to github notifications either. I'm a lot more likely to notice something like that if it's integrated into my social media consumption.
This repository contains code to scan for new releases of configurable github repositories and publish new releases to different Mastodon accounts.

I'm selfhosting several services, mostly based on docker containers. Many of these are managed on Github and publish releases there. What annoys me is that I regularly miss updates.
I'm also quite active on Mastodon so I thought it would be handy to have a bot automatically scanning for new github releases and posting a new toot for every new release.
The bot can be configured to scan multiple different github repositories and publish to different mastodon accounts.
I have set up accounts for:
https://mastodon.social/@navidrome_releases https://mastodon.social/@vaultwarden_releases https://mastodon.social/@dockerpihole_releases https://mastodon.social/@tempo_releases https://mastodon.social/@unifidocker_releases
You can use the notification feature of Mastodon to get a notification, whenever a new post is published. Just follow an account and hit the little bell icon on its profile page.
Here's the code, if someone is interested in that:
https://codeberg.org/ryan_harg/github-releases-bot
Is this something that you people find useful? Which other services would you like to see covered in that way?

Since I regularly miss new Navidrome releases I have created a bot that automatically checks Navidrome's github page for new releases and publishes to a Mastodon account if a new release is available.
You can follow the account here: https://mastodon.social/@navidrome_releases
Pro tip: If you click the little bell icon on its profile page, you'll get a notification for every post.

"New in this release.
⚠️ BREAKING CHANGE: This release removes the Last.fm shared API-key, as previously announced here. If you use any Last.fm functionality (scrobbling, biographies, album descriptions), please check the documentation on how to create your own API Key, it is free and should only take you a couple of minutes. NOTE: Remember to re-enable scrobbling after changing the API Key and restarting the server.
In this release we focused on support and compatibility with OpenSubsonic, increasing the overall user experience when using a compatible Subsonic client. Click here for the full list of what is implemented and what is missing for now.
NOTE: Even though this release does not force a full rescan, you should do it at your discretion, to import more tags available in the scanner, ex: structured lyrics."

I just realised that almost three weeks ago, a new minor navidrome version (0.50.1) has been released. Just wanted to mention it in case some of you haven't taken note as well. This release contains mostly bugfixes.
Most of all I'm happy to see some activity again. Hoping to see more in the near future!
I'm using MusicBrainz Picard for tagging my music library and I'm not unhappy with it. Yet, sometimes it feels a bit clunky and I'm wondering if there are other good tools out there. What do people use? What are the major pros of these tools? Let's collect some recommendations here. I'm Linux based, but for the benefit of others don't restrict yourself!
Not strictly Navidrome news, but related. Version 3.5.0 of my favourite mobile subsonic client app was released. It delivers some new features (like filtering downloaded items by track, album or artist), several bugfixes and a full german localization.
You can download it from Github releases or IzzyOnDroid.
After using Funkwhale for some time, I've recently set up Navidrome as a music streaming server and I'm well impressed about the easy installation and quality of the software. Seeing that the official community channels are all outside the fedicerse I have decided to create a Lemmy community for folks interested in the topic. It is an unofficial community, but it is linked from the main Navidrome website, by now. If that's interesting for you, I'd love to see you there!
I've been using substreamer to access my Navidrome server from my android phone initially but I just came to learn about Tempo, which is also a nice app. What I like about substreamer among others is the option to let it download fanart from an external source by itself bypassing navidrome. There might be more nice apps, so I'm curious what you folks are using on your mobile devices.
I've noticed that I cannot play radio stations that I have added to Navidrome. The player just shows a cycling icon and the radio won't start playing. Looking at network activity, I could see the browser complaining about CORS issues: it cannot deliver content from a third-party domain. It turns out the issue is known and there should be a fix available in the next release: https://github.com/navidrome/navidrome/issues/2267 .
