I'm curious what this means. I am guessing not tourists, and I also think of folks in the US who are sovereign citizens. Is that a thing in parts or Europe?
I really believe that this push for "universal coverage" is a terrible idea. As we saw when cell service made its way into remote areas and with an increase in uneducated folks going to places they didn't have the skills to be, we will only see this more. We don't need service in the middle of a million acre wilderness. If you have the skill set to go there, then you probably know about other tools for comms.
Wow, it looks like that info is about 50 years old, making it even worse... It also looks like it says the folks looking to use that method may have sought out others, I wonder how we as a society have performed on that since that time. Also, I am generally poor at reading abstracts, apologies if I am getting this wrong.
Trying to be positive - I just read an article about diseases being eradicated in multiple countries. That is great, and I hope that trend will continue. We are seeing some interesting work done with disease treatment. So, on that front, I think some of the research that has been ongoing in a number of illnesses will result in something tangible that can be published. Cancer vaccine? Dimentia prevention? New way to manage a surprise respiratory virus?
Removing carbon monoxide from cooking gas lines in the UK caused a massive drop in suicides
Did it really? I live in the US and have read that an inexpensive improvement to burners would lead to decreased indoor air pollution, but industry is against it. This other tidbit would make that resistance so much worse than it already is.
Does organic maps work without downloading maps? I don't really need nav, but sometimes I need to know how to get somewhere. I can't do that with Osmand.
Folks like this really are goal oriented. Give them a goal, and a framework that will help them achieve it, and they will pursue it unquestionably. It must have been images like this that inspired Bukowski.
Xmas was yesterday now for me, but I never went outside the house. I made baklava ice cream and a green chile cheese ball, petted the dog and the cat, wished it wasn't raining so I could take a walk, and my mother bought some sugar that we needed at a pharmacy.
That makes sense. Sorry to hear there is an issue with discrimination. Also sorry to conflate them with sov cits.
