I don't understand why they use steps. Who counts steps? It is more individualized than a distance, but my gosh, who is out there saying 4,981, 4,982, ...? I know roughly the distance of my pace and could convert.
It really sounds like we need folks to get out and do it, tho!
Congrats, have a great time! The only time (so far) I have had to get water from a stock pond was on the CDT in northern NM. Good times! I would recommend having a plan for food storage by the time you get to the Gila. I use a bear can but they're not for everyone.
In addition to what you posted, I've also used this specifically for sierra games. Sometimes you may need an interface like Scumm. I'm mostly looking at 80s-early 90s stuff, I'm not sure how well the newer stuff on that site will work.
Vagrancy matters! The only reason I was counted in 2020 was because I broke my neck and spent about the first half of the year staying at a friend's house. The address I had wasn't legit so nothing like that would have been mailed to me.
This looks interesting. It looks geared to importing data from a service (like Spotify), how would one import data from the radio or mp3 files? I don't really stream music but love the idea of new ways to find new music.
There is a movie about jury nullification, ya? I tried looking it up but I can't remember enough details. It's from the mid 90s. About a gun case. Maybe helpful and required watching? Maybe I am off.
I am happy to hear she wasn't tried but it's terrible it got this far 😠
Ya, it is pretty hard to talk on a sat phone. If you call someone, it's best if they know what you are calling from bc of that delay. Not huge, but it can matter. I can't imagine it will be different with direct to cell but they may use some sort of buffering to help.
Even tho I've read direct to cell before, it didn't click until now that they meant that this would work as a cell antenna (more or less). I sometimes have to carry a sat phone for work and was wondering how this was to work on a normal cell phone!
I'm still not on board with it but the tech is interesting.
I agree with both you and HikingVet@lemmy.ca but somehow interpreted that sentence differently. Thanks for helping see it! Not great either way I guess, tho 🙁
I don't have a 5g phone but will be interested to see how fast it is when I do. Not sure if it is in my area, will have to look. I know they don't offer home internet here.
