Democrats aren’t spineless. they are operating in a world where republicans own the majority of the media and will repeat whatever they say. For example, The democrats lost a lot of local elections last cycle because republican media scared everyone into thinking crime rates were soaring even though they’re at all time lows. Republicans have gerrymandered so well that they have to be extremely careful or risk losing even in states where they have the majority of voters.
Republicans have been playing a long game starting with Regan and they are in their end game now.

I didn’t say people shouldn’t install Linux. But even if you do, browser share matters and if Microsoft is abusing their customers and tricking them into using edge in mass, then it will affect you as a Linux user too.
Microsoft can modify chromium. They can add proprietary things to it. Yes you could use edge if you have to critical pages that only works right on edge.
Windows is telling people their computer is broken if they don’t use Edge.
Switching to Linux won’t save you if Microsoft Edge takes such a huge market share that a lot of the internet starts to basically require it.
Backing this stuff up is really difficult. The vast majority of macs don’t have enough storage to keep everything local. If you put it on an external drive then it disables some features.
My solution is to keep an old Mac as a backup device that keeps all the files local and backs them up. But that’s far more than most people are prepared to do.

I think the current climate of digging up anything someone has ever done or said that is against the current accepted morality and punishing them for it severely makes a lot of people not want to stick out their neck. This probably isn’t an accident.

There are imperialist countries that have lower standards of living currently and in the past. There are other imperialist countries like China and they still have a significantly lower standard of living.

You’d give those states all the electoral votes and senate seats, and they’d apply their laws at the federal level. I’m suspicious that’s their plan. Drive all the liberals out of these conservative states that were at risk of turning blue so they can take their policies federal.
But the alternatives that people are proposing leaves people with no representation at all. You can’t have representation when you aren’t even allowed to discuss ideas that the government already disagrees with.
