Oh. Thanks for the information, I read up about it after your post and it checks out.
I will have to confess that most of my information come definitely from a fanboy at work, he told me they where something like 50% more efficient and producing cars than the rest of the industry. Although I never understood that number came from or what he measured against I also never questioned it. I just assumed the truth was somewhere between probably having a few cleaver logistical/production solutions and being just an average car producer.
Yes, i mean I can only look to myself as a consumer. Tesla ticks alot of boxes, and the lower the prices get the better it gets. They are still competitive and I consider them.
But I see what the others are doing and what trim levels you get from the competition. Now I can get my leather seats and foldable towbar and sounds systems and massage seats and all the other goodies I am used to in my vehicle.
In the end Tesla can't solve everything with a OTA updates, and selfdriving is cool, but there are other options I want in my car that is not all about software. I feel they put all the eggs in one basket.
We will see when I am looking for my next car in about two years time! It will be very interesting, and I am not complaining about more options.
Interesting read. I did not realise that they need 100B usd to cover the next 4 years. They burn cash very fast. Their vertical integration factories can bite back very hard if they can't keep up demand. So much for Tesla schooling The rest of the industry on how to build cars.. maybe the old dogs do know something after all..
I hope it goes well and they figure something out, oustin Mr Musk from the company seems like the best short term decision to save the company long term and definitely not paying the 55b usd bonus, that sounds more and more like an exit strategy for Mr Musk.
They have a strong brand, and had a strong lineup just a few years ago.. I think they can figure it out.
They will wipe out many peoples 401ks if they go bankrupt, that will be ugly for everyone involved, and 140 000 people will loose their jobs
The model makes decisions thinking it is right, but for whatever reason can't see a firetruck or stopsign or misidentifies the object.. you know almost like how a human hallucinating would perceive something from external sensory that is not there.
I don't mind giving it another term, but "being wrong" is misleading. But you are correct in the sense that it depends on every given case..
Text to video, automated driving, object detection, language translations. I might be misusing the term, you could argue that the word is describing what LLMs commonly does and that is where the term is derived from. You can also argue that AI is sometimes correct and the human have issues identifying the correct answer. But In my mind it is much the same just different applications.
A car completely missing a firetruck approaching or a LLM just spewing out wrong statements is the same to me.
AI in general is definitely prone to hallucinations. It is more commonly seen in LLMs because it is more widely used by the public. It is definitely a problem with all AI
This is already worked in through mathematics, it is its own mathematical field. We can optimize packaging through formulas that are very fast and accurate. No need to train a AI for that. Especially not for space flight, AI are prone to hallucinations that is not something you want anywhere near any space mission that requires precision and predictability.
I believe Johannes Kepler started this field in the 1600s, it is not something new. It is definitely a complex problem, but not new and not unheard of. Amazon is not exactly inventing something new and amazing here..
What happened to the masterplan of making cheaper and cheaper cars. They really lost momentum by going for the trucks, the "long" hauler and the "rugged" truck.. shame
Why do these guys always rely on donations for their lawsuits? I also saw Trump getting funds. Is it because they can't liquidize their assets fast enough?
I though they are multimillionaires and billionaires?
Or is there another reason?
Hey! I happen to own that car! It's not but that bad.. but you do have a point... thanks for putting words on how the back looks.. I also think the multipla seems like a reasonable car, and I can appreciate the design (that I assume is very functional)
Edit: I own a car LIKE that, not this specific one..
Yes a car is definitely not something that increases in value siting on a shelf ( if you don't believe Musk).
But they made the same car for years, so it is the same car as a few years ago? Does it matter if I get one from the shelf or one a year from now really?
There is nothing wrong with a logistical strategy of pushing products to market (without a demand). It's a reasonable way to be able to push the price down. And I believe that is what Tesla wants to do? Tesla is not supposed to be a luxury brand
China have become very good at manufacturing, thanks to all the western companies outsourcing over the years. Nowadays Made in china means reasonable quality at a good price, they are amazing at hiting certain privepoints with as high of a quality you could expect.
Give them a high quality pricepoint and they outdo any western company. I think that is what is happening here
Fuck that. Because he gambled with rich peoples money? How would a 40 year prison sentence rehabilitate him from that.. I say it is pointless, release the man! In fact, we need more like him. Eat the rich!
