This is a recent realization for me, and it's been a tough swallow.

If the past 8 years aren't enough for you to see where things are headed, I'm guessing you are in the "it's not happening until it affects me personally" camp.

This is an obvious and direct result of Trump/Vance policies. More like it are guaranteed, and I'm sure this is not the first.

I can't say for sure. I think in at least some cases the blackouts are to support local cable tv, which we no longer subscribe to. I don't think there tend to be games that can be watched only in person, but it's possible I just don't know.

Nothing gets you guaranteed hero worship and respect like being able to throw or kick a ball or similar in the US. The economics around it are unsurprisingly huge and complex, as everyone tries to be sure they get their piece.

Wait until you hear about how you cannot pay to watch all the NFL/NBA/MLB/NHL games in your market on a streaming service. Unless something has very recently changed, there's no method of legitimately paying where you won't still experience blackouts.

All this would be far more interesting and entertaining if any amount of "shredding" would result in any consequences.

But I've reached the point where both his base and the legal system have proven to me that nothing he does will be a bridge too far.

Laws, court orders, likely deaths of US citizens, likely deaths of non-US citizens, these are all things that hold no sway for the Trump admin because we the people, as a nation, have demonstrated that neither his popularity, his prosperity, nor his freedom will be impacted by anything he does, whatsoever.

So yay, he was shredded after doing a monumentally stupid thing that will probably kill some people. Again. And there will be no other ramifications.
