Microsoft lays hands on login data: Beware of the new Outlook
  • The way you write is very off-putting. It seems like many people agree. I read your comments because I was interested in the information but yeah. Not trying to be mean, but I understand why you’re getting resistance while you’re trying to provide info.

  • Should we completely ban advertising links in this community?
  • Advertising, in my opinion, goes against the spirit of gone wild. I have no problem with OF as a platform, but I’d like to think gone wild is more spontaneous. Just my two cents. If people are that interested, they’ll click into the profile and find plenty an OF link.

  • 200,000 people showed up for Orlando Pride in defiant middle finger to Ron DeSantis
  • Better to affirm the gender they feel early so they have plenty of time experiencing it so on the low change they realize they’re not the gender they thought they were they have plenty of time and were able to experience it.

  • Russia's Pivot Away From US Dollar Is Not Going According to Plan
  • I just read the whole thread lol, you originally responded “only if you live in a propaganda bubble” to the first comment about things going for Russia being a theme.

Sad to say, you’re incorrect in this chain of comments and are clearly just trying to deflect after making an unpopular reply in the first place.

    Go touch some grass.

  • Well I'm out of ideas
  • You word it like Ukraine is somehow responsible for the violence because she won’t back down.

This entire clusterfuck is Putin’s fault. Not wanting to give up territory is completely understandable.

  • [HN] I try synthetic salmon and enter the “uncanny valley” of taste
  • That’s pretty cool.

Enjoyed the author’s review of the food, but not so much the reasoning in the conclusion. The justification about eating fish felt weirdly defensive.

If this has a smaller footprint than farming real salmon, it’s a win. I prefer real meat to beyond meat, yet I eat beyond meat 1-2 times a week in an effort to reduce meat consumption.

It doesn’t have to be all or nothing, for many it just has to be good enough.

  • I have yet to see a single problem with Lemmy over months of daily use. An instance may have crashed in that time but I didn’t notice not seeing certain instances when scrolling, and I don’t seek out particular communities. Helps that I’m hosted on a less popular instance, and the lemmy.ca admins seem to run a tight ship.

I block a couple of communities a day, but that seems to be expected. I also haven’t seen any kiddie porn.

Less discussion than Reddit, and less specific communities, but that’s been easy to forgive because well, fuck Reddit.

If an alternative pops up at some point, I’ll be sure to give it a try. Lemmy is doing just fine for me.

  • These women fell in love with an AI-voiced chatbot. Then it died
  • Woah. That’s so interesting. I read the description and immediately thought of the movie “Her.” The app is literally called “Him.”

At night, he told bedtime stories. The 24-year-old fell asleep to the sound of his breath playing from her phone.

  • The recent criticism of Linus Tech Tips, explained
  • The more I read about this fiasco the worse it gets. That non-apology letter Linus posted was embarrassing as hell, and in other comments on his forum he seems to just be deflecting left right and centre.

They also lost the video card that the same company sent to them (they recently found it apparently) which is why they used the wrong video card for the “test” of the prototype which was such a poor execution they really did that company dirty.

I guess when you get too big or rich it becomes harder and harder to admit you can be wrong or have made a mistake. The letter had big u/spez energy and I have lost an insane amount of respect for Linus and the LTT brand.

I’m never watching another video from them, and have gone as far as to block their channel on my browser to prevent temptation.

This feels a bit like older internet!
    lemmy.ca Lemmy.ca's Main Community - Lemmy.ca

Welcome to lemmy.ca [http://lemmy.ca]’s c/main! Since everyone on lemmy.ca [http://lemmy.ca] gets subscribed here, this is the place to chat about the goings on at lemmy.ca [http://lemmy.ca], support-type items, suggestions, etc. Announcements can be found at https://lemmy.ca/c/meta [https://lemmy.c...

I’m loving Lemmy. And I’m loving this instance. Great conversation, no bots, no ads. It seems like there are so many intentional, thoughtful comments here (and Lemmy as a whole) than Reddit.

The way I used reddit was to unsub from all of the defaults and only subscribe to smaller communities I was interested in. That with Apollo, was a decent experience, was enough to remove the thought of ‘internet commodification’ while browsing.

But shit, this is awesome. Thank you for making this space a pleasure to use and scroll through. Feels like the old days a bit, we’re all just figuring out this new(ish) space.
