If Chromebooks are anything to go by, if google had their way you'd only be allowed to search prescreened questions they think are best for you. Can't have you experiencing anything not advertiser friendly.

Yea, I couldn't tell you the specifics. I know new members of group chats don't see any previous messages. I think it might re-negotiate the keys every time someone is added. It's probably not meant to scale up to very large groups (tho I've never tried), but I've noticed no issues in 25ish people chats.

It works about the same as any other app's group invite link. It can be set to automatically add the person or be treated as a request to join that needs approval.

Thanks for the detailed reply. Signal does have location sharing and invite links, FWIW.

All good points. The main takeaway here should really be about what this particular breakthrough offers, which is an abundant, more environmentally-friendly source material that could be used to replaceLi-Ion in a lot of use cases. And maybe most/all uses with its own improvements over time.

This article is also only applicable to EU, where (as your link mentions) alternative browsers don't need to be WebKit. Chrome and Firefox are already working on switching.

Largely agree. I think the bamboozlers were there the whole time - after all, a lot of early radio was for propaganda purposes. But I do think most companies try to do things the right way, and there was a point when marketing was seen as simple outreach.

Good thoughts. Did you follow the link to thread that was the tipping point for the blog author? The thread creator was very rude (according to, due to his own mental health situation). We all have different levels of tolerance and patience, but I can totally see why the blog author would be fed up after such a comment, if things were already stressful.

Amateur advice. Don't own your own device. ask your friends to look up things for you on their devices, then print them out and mail them to your PO Box. Untraceable.

I don't agree that Wikipedia used to be the only place. There were plenty of competing encyclopedias, it was simply the best long-term.
