  • I’m gonna get lambasted for this, but I don’t see the issue.

If the restaurant paid them more in wages, the customer would pay for that too in the form of higher on-menu prices. That’s just how paying for goods and services works.

Unless this is some mega-restaurant where the owners are making so much money that they could take a pay cut and meaningfully increase everyone’s wages?

  • Very naive question - why is it so hard to find landmines?

Why can’t you see the holes where they placed the mines from a helicopter?

Is there no machine that can “see” underground and help locate them?

Is there no way to just spray a bunch of objects in the field and detonate them?

  • I feel like protection of endangered species is one of the most dependable sources of uplifting news. I remember when this became a big subject in the 90’s, and it seems to be paying off now 20-30 years later. Goes to show that regulation and collective action can work, it’s just slow.

  • The tldr here is this:

These constitutional scholars dug into the original meaning of the 14th amendment and concluded that Trump easily meets the bar for having “engaged in” the Jan 6th insurrection, thereby disqualifying him from holding office.

I believe it all comes down to the term “engaged in”. Some say he didn’t because he was not literally storming the capital with the rioters. These two law professors are arguing (in a peer reviewed law journal) that the original intent of that term includes all the stuff Trump did.
