  • And still some won't care. Worked at a bar for a bit. After work one night with a bunch of coworkers drinking. One had had too much but wanted to drive home. It would have been trivial for myself and one other sober person to get both her and her car home safely. She was still fumbling for some reason she needed to drive as we'd negated every excuse she had so far. Then in a small moment when we were distracted, she full on sprints away giggling and drove home. It was like one of those scenes about the troubles of parenting where you set the infant down swaddled, buckled in a carrier, and seemingly safe. The parent looks away for half a second. Cut back to the infant playing with a bottle of acid sitting in the knife drawer with their head inside the mouth of a lion that is now inexplicably in your house.

  • Dear gods. Without rare earth metals the US could regress technologically. We'd likely revert to cathode ray tubes and other post WW2 tech. That is until fusion is sustainable and then we get fight over energy for some reason. Next thing you know it's October 23, 2077...

  • I just don't understand people that can't understand hyperbole. It was heavily reported in his first term that in order to keep his attention his name had to be heavily used in any reports that also had to me horribly shortened.

  • You're close. He cares about his perception of people's perception of his wealth. He's got yes-men all around him and doesn't read. He doesn't care any more than any other publication giving him shit.

  • This is entirely incorrect. Abiogenesis is the mechanism that converts "chemicals" to life. The only thing you are deliberately doing is stating factually incorrect concepts about an intensely deep and developed area of study. The "more mainstream definition" is just wrong.

  • Except you don't just get to conflate your personal definition of evolution with the scientific one. If you want to believe rocks "evolve" into a planet, that's fine. But if you start bringing that up without clarifying your definition of evolution and how it factually differs from the scientific one, people will think you're crazy.

  • Life as we know it could not "evolve" on the sun. And technically life has to be present first before it can evolve. Evolution isn't what created life. It's just how the living change over time.
