It seems Gen Z is just fine with parents knowing where they are all the time
  • True but most of the time I don't have GPS enabled anyway lol

  • It seems Gen Z is just fine with parents knowing where they are all the time
  • We just verbally check in and I'm totally fine with saying where I am. I believe the important thing here is trust. If, hypothetically, we were able to set up something privacy-respecting that communicated my GPS location to my parents 24/7, I wouldn't be a fan of it. It'd feel like my parents are monitoring me because they don't trust me to be truthful about my whereabouts.

  • I'm 18 and fine with my parents knowing where I am so we can coordinate mealtimes and stuff. I really don't care for having a third party spy on me 24/7 though. We just Signal each other "I'm at xyz location, be back soon" and that's plenty enough.

  • [Official] Kieran Tierney joins Real Sociedad on loan
  • Arteta is doing him so dirty... I wish him well fr

  • Recommendations of non-Apple products with similar longevity?
  • Mine works perfectly otherwise too, thinking of giving it to my grandma so she can use it at home. Huge shame...

I knew about the class action lawsuit but I live outside of the US :C

Good luck getting a new laptop, hope it lasts!

  • Recommendations of non-Apple products with similar longevity?
  • Dude did you get the HP Envy x360 too? My hinge failed a year in, I got the panel replaced, a year later the hinge fails again. My screen hasn't cracked but I can't close the laptop anymore... Gonna get a Thinkpad L14 and hope it holds up a bit better, since Thinkpads are known for decent build quality.

  • What would you tell your 18 year old self?
  • I have braces right now and it's very uncomfortable to have anything stuck in there, so I do take extra care of my oral health at the moment. Fortunately I'll have free dental care for the foreseeable future, given that I'm going into uni and then healthcare (this is how it works where I live).

Agreed on lifelong learning, I want to (somewhat) be able to keep up with the world changing as I get older.

  • Current setup:
  • I see! Just curious if you had a change in workflow, or if horizontal monitors were better for your productivity or anything like that. Thanks for sharing!

  • What would you tell your 18 year old self?
  • I turn 18 in around a month... I guess I'd tell him to take care of himself and keep working on being less anxious, though I doubt he'd actually do it.

  • Current setup:
  • I noticed you switched from having vertical side monitors to horizontal. Is there a specific reason?

  • What is your worst setup ever?
  • Not the most cursed since I had a chair and a desk with my laptop on top. But the desk was way too high up and so it was incredibly uncomfortable to use. Being at the desk for long stretches of time managed to compress my ulnar nerves to the point where they sublux once in a while and cause numbness/tingling in my hands.

  • do you use revanced?
  • Small instance.

  • do you use revanced?
  • I would but my first gen iPad Air is too old for that, I think

  • Would you work for a corporation that you oppose ideologically, if the pay is good?
  • I'm studying to be a doctor specifically to avoid working for hugely unethical corporations. Even if I end up in the private sector (public healthcare is mostly free here), it'll be easier to justify saving lives vs. working for a defense contractor.

  • do you use revanced?
  • All the time. At this point I'm waiting to replace my second hand iPad with an Android tablet so I can achieve a truly optimal YT experience.

  • lol lol @lemy.lol
