  • At the moment the issues I'm dealing with are CAD No Fusion 360 on Linux and FreeCAD has ran like shit on every system I've tried and getting my peripherals working, mainly my Logitech stuff, mainly my g602 mouse but I also have a headset from them that doesn't work properly and from what I understand can't work properly on Linux. Another problem I had a few weeks ago was something killed the secure boot enrollment on my Linux os and it refused to boot at all or even get into repair mode even after I disabled secure boot. I had to completely reinstall it and start over which is not sustainable if that reoccurs with any sort of frequency.

  • There is literally a trick if they're asking how it's possible and it's actually not. The kid is right. If we're just ignoring all the words to look at the numbers why even have word problems? The point is to apply math to situations and that's what the kid did. Nothing provided in the question contradicts his answer. The teacher's an asshole.

  • At some point you’ll realize you haven’t used your Windows drive in a year and it will be a lot easier to make the decision to finally erase it all and repurpose the drive for something else.

It hasn't been a year yet but so far it's been the other way around for me (except for the VM I run my piracy stuff on and my media server, that's going great). I have been running into constant issues and annoyances trying to use Linux as my daily driver. Maybe if all I cared about was streaming content and gaming it would be fine but I couldn't even get through my taxes without having to switch back.

  • I know what exactly two people I went to high school with are doing. One is my brother's wife's sister and one got stabbed to death being a violent moron. I don't give a shit about what any of those people are up to and I'm certainly not earning a good living.

  • I'm not the guy you're responding to but here's my thoughts on it based off my experience.

    Is it sexual frustration?

I'd wager that that's a big part of the problem for a lot of them. I know it was for me when I was younger. Seeing your peers entering into relationships while you can't seem to get even a second glance from a woman does a number on you. Especially when you can't figure out what the problem is. I was fortunate that things turned around for me pretty quickly once I got out of the toxic high school environment and moved onto a different social circle in college that helped me get out of my shell. A lot of dudes aren't that lucky and just get stuck in that bad mindset where they feel like it's hopeless which then takes them on to all kinds of nasty places as time goes on.

Is the solution ensuring that young men have access to sex, regardless of the means or impact on women?

No, in my opinion the solution is making mental health services available to help teach them how to deal with whatever it is that's making it hard for them to find a partner or to cope with it if it's something that can't be resolved. Also just having more social opportunities in general to get people offline and meeting and interacting with each other more would be nice. Women certainly aren't responsible for making sure men are all getting laid as often as they want but sexual frustration/loneliness is a problem a lot of men struggle with coming to terms with and it does fuck up their lives sometimes.

  • You cater everyone by putting a context menu in that comes up when you right click or long press on a touch screen. This problem has been solved for decades. Applications aren't designed by the majority. They're designed by a handful of developers who I suspect are usually ordered to do shit by some moron project manager that just wants changes made so they can report to their superiors that they did something.

  • Installing Linux is a walk in the park whereas windows is a Hilarious clown show from hell with no end.

As a server maybe. Switching everything on my desktop to Linux has been a constant fight against all kinds of problems and there's several things I haven't been able to get working at all. Microsoft's constant enshittification is closing the gap and it's currently a tossup between which one I'm going to land on but that's not Linux improving so much as Windows getting worse.

  • The nice thing about my view is that it doesn't preclude you from adhering to yours. Everyone can go exactly as fast as they want as long as they utilize the different lanes properly.

  • I will hit the same red lights at the same time as others, mind you I do notice when someone flies past me on the fast lane and we reach the same exit ramp stop light.

Maybe over a short distance you will. Even then they'd be at the front of the line instead of stuck behind who knows how many idiots that are going to be staring at their phone when the light switches and cause you to get stuck behind it for a second time.

  • I tested this on my car as well. I gain about 3 MPG by using the cruise control and adhering to the speed limit vs. Just driving how I want. It's not worth the difference. Changing to shitty tires was a bigger hit to my MPG than that.

  • IDK what to tell you. I don't think of interesting conversations as small talk. That's not what I'm complaining about when I say I don't like small talk. What I think of as small talk is when people seem to have to run their mouths just to ruin a perfectly good silence with shit about the weather or sports or something. That's just how it is. If the conversation isn't going to go past small talk I'd be just as happy to not have it at all.
