What will Royal Mail’s takeover mean for customers and postal workers?
  • Seems like the sort of thing where everyone says “why the fuck was that allowed to happen, what a fucking disaster” in 10 years time.

For now though, greasy palmed politicians will say it’s the right thing to do.

  • The Vitamin
  • Honestly, that kinda happened to me.

Well, I had a blood test because I was having heart palpitations and under extreme stress, so not exactly “just collapsed”. But they found I have hypothyroidism, and life’s much better and much easier with the medication.

Turns out you’re not supposed to feel tired after doing nothing, sleep 12 hours, then wake up tired…

Annoyingly this must’ve been an issue for years, but I was raised to “shut up and get on with it”, and told the problem was that I’m “just lazy” :/

  • Dreaming of a more egalitarian world
  • Yeah, I think in general it starts with trying to impress women, then you do it to impress other guys.

I guess it’s similar for women, they might get into doing their make up and looking nice for attention from guys they like, but in the end they’re mainly trying to impress other women or just doing it because they enjoy it.

  • Has anyone here been prescribed TRT? Or had a partner on it?
  • I’ve only heard very positive things about TRT, but that’s just from people discussing it online.

I imagine if you’re just using it to get testosterone levels back to normal then it wouldn’t cause any issues tho. The high testosterone side effects usually come from taking an inconceivably unnatural amount.

I have hypothyroidism and since going on medication I’m a completely different person. Obviously a different thing, but it’s crazy how much our entire lives can be dictated by hormones without realising.

All that being said, you should speak to a doctor about it.

  • Laying on the guilt
  • Okay, I really don’t see how it’s that bad tbh. I’ve never messaged anyone like that or been toxic, but it’s so mild…

I also don’t think it’s been “normalized”, it’s just really not a big deal. I don’t know why anyone would be that bothered by it and think they’re a complete shitstain.

  • How is Lemmy supposed to replace Reddit?

I just don't get how Lemmy is going to act as a proper replacement for Reddit.

I understand the basic concept of Lemmy and the Fediverse, and people are touting the concept of it being federated and not centrally controlled, but it is an absolute mess and nobody seems to have an idea about what to do with it.

How are communities going to grow if there isn't at least some form of central management. Other than there being an underlying framework that connects the servers, they're all just doing what they want.

Outside of the underlying framework, there's no 'guidelines' or consistency. The servers have random names, and the main Lemmy.ml is telling people to register elsewhere.

How is this going to bring in a wider audience if people are being directed to lemmy.fmhy.ml, sopuli.xyz, or sh.itjust.works?

What is the purpose of the Fediverse when forums for niche interests already exist on the internet?

Does it make sense to have something like a 'sports' server that has communities for soccer, NFL, basketball, MMA? But then how do you get a consistent naming scheme that lets people know it's part of the fediverse?

Maybe Lemmy could work as a replacement, but it seems like it needs a 'flagship' server with a group of people maintaining it to set an example. Then other servers that cover more specific areas, such as sports, can be set up and potentially work closely with that flagship group.

If this doesn't happen, then I can't see how this doesn't just fizzle out.

P.S. I've also compared two different Lemmy servers and looked at the same post in a community, and there are different numbers of comments on each where they haven't synced up...

I also wanted to post this to the main Lemmy community, but as I had to register via a different server, I'm not able to access that community from the server I'm using for some reason...
