The Supreme Court strikes down Biden's student-loan forgiveness plan, blocking debt relief for millions of borrowers
  • Yeah between this, abortion rights, and the affirmative action thing... it's gonna be a rough next few years, but in the long term the Republicans are toast. I think what we're experiencing now are their last spasms for power because they know they're on the way out.

Just look up the amount of registered democrats vs. registered republicans in this country. IIRC there's like half again as many democrats.

It's almost like the only reason republicans ever win elections right now is due to is voter suppression.

  • So you advocate your own posting taking its natural course and dying off? I can think of a way you can hurry up this process.

  • Yeah I was worried this could become a problem, because I imagine a lot of chuds are turned off of lemmy because of the tankie devs. Which makes sense. But I don't think they should be welcome here, either. I'm trying to get away from that authoritarian shit, not get closer to the even worse kind of authoritarian shit.

  • No one needs to see this, you are throwing out extremely basic arguments that all of us encounter every day in this regressive society. You aren't speaking truth to power, you're just being part of the power right now. You aren't making yourself look good and you aren't making the world a better, freer, more nuanced, or happier place.

People: Hey, stop being a jackass.

Russia investigates Wagner chief for ‘armed mutiny’ after call for attack on military

Prigozhin, the head of Wagner, said publicly that the war was waged on false grounds. In response, the Russian Army shelled a bunch of Wagner soldiers, killing many of them. Now, it seems like fighting is starting between Russian Army soldiers and Wagner soldiers around Rostov.

  • Wow, I love slsk and have been using it since literally about 2004 (it has absolutely defined my taste in music), but I didn't know there were any options for clients except for the main one. This is great!

If you're reading this and you've never checked out slsk, consider this your invitation. I have spent hours trying to "stump" it by searching for increasingly-obscure music. Someone always has it on slsk.

I use terminal because I want to feel like a hacker in a 90's movie.

  • I don't think it's a social media site any more, I think it's a propaganda site and a data harvesting operation.

I agree, but I also think that most social media has been propaganda and data harvesting all the way down from day one.

Like, the internet was not made by accident, or for no reason. It was developed at public universities with military funding.

  • What FOSS browsers, do you use on a daily basis on both your mobile and computer for privacy and security, and what measures have you taken to further harden your browser (if any).
  • I use Brave and I actually really like it, but I don't recommend it to other people because the crypto shit is frankly kind of embarrassing. It takes a fundamentally good piece of software and makes it feel scammy. I wish they would figure out a better business model, but it's not like I have any ideas.

I'm comfortable just turning all of it off in the settings, but I don't feel comfortable recommending it to people who are less technical than I am because I can already tell they'll be like "You said this was supposed to be more secure why is it trying to sell me crypto"

EDIT: Still, though, ultimately whenever I have to use anyone's "regular" device without adblocking and everything I'm shocked at how annoying the internet is, so Brave is doing its job haha.
