what’s your favorite way to beat the heat?
  • I switch my schedule so that all chores are done in the morning or night. If it’s really bad, I rinse off in the shower lowering the temp slowly until it feels too cold. Lots of water and crystal light. And I snack on cucumbers.

  • Kevin Kelly suing AEW over his termination
  • I was watching a documentary recently that had clips of older radio shows sprinkled in. Howard Stern, stuff like that. And I thought to myself how nice it is that that’s not as big anymore. Back in the day, it was almost impossible to escape. I cringed pretty hard at Bischoff’s quotes here.

I do wonder what’s happened with Kevin Kelly over the years. Before he showed up around the first Forbidden Door, I had never heard him but saw lots of comments with people praising his work. By the time Collision started up, opinions on his work had shifted a lot.

  • TNA iMPACT Discussion Thread - 06/13/24 (Spoilers)
  • Yeah. I’ll have to look up a clip at some point to have a more in depth opinion, but surface level opinion is that I wouldn’t put anyone with Hendry. But if he has to have someone, a kind of Prince Nana/Swerve situation could work.

My only experience seeing Ace Steel (as far as I’m aware at least) was the odd Punk Chicago segment that felt like a Cody segment. Which would’ve been a really good segment except I didn’t know who Ace Steel was and it didn’t feel like a Punk segment.

  • WWE Files To Trademark 'Talla Tonga'
  • Silly theory: WWE browses Tumblr and that’s why they changed Tanga Loa to Tonga Loa.

Every time something happened to bring attention to him, I see helpful reminders on there to just use (hashtag) Tonga Loa, because Tanga is blocked as a tag on Tumblr. Something about it being a rude word in another language, I think.

  • Athena interview about her Karlach cosplay

Coming in at a little under 30 minutes, this is a pretty fun interview I just listened to. She talks about that awesome Karlach from Baldur's Gate 3 cosplay she did, some other stuff about cosplay in wrestling, a little about playing Baldur's Gate 3, and there's a fun wrestling finisher or DnD monster quiz for her toward the end.

He’ll still appear at a few NJPW shows in February.

    This feels wild.

Deonna Purrazzo Felt Like It Was Time To Leave TNA/IMPACT, Didn't Know What Was Left To Do | Fightful News

Deonna is right here. While it’ll feel odd to get used to her gone from TNA, she had done pretty much everything. Looks like Gisele Shaw will get a chance to move up the card now, too.

Jim Ross Says His AEW Contract Expires February 14, Hopes Tony Khan Renews His Deal | Fightful News

I think it’s fair to say JR has had some highs and lows in AEW so far. Using him for bigger matches so he has his energy up seems to work well though. At the very least, it would be cool to get him to commentate for Sting’s last match.

    The Iron Claw

I went and saw The Iron Claw tonight with my brother and thought I’d share my thoughts. Unless you’re completely unaware of the movie or family involved, I’d say this is a non-spoilery post.

Taking it in as a sports drama, I think it did a fantastic job. Yeah, I felt weird going in knowing that Chris wasn’t in the movie, but by the end I understood why the filmmakers made the decision, even if I still feel a little weird about it.

I got the impression they didn’t have the biggest budget, but worked well within it. After all, the focus is so much on the acting, that it doesn’t matter that it’s not a flashy movie. Speaking of the acting, I was impressed by Zac Efron. Lily James actually felt important as Kevin’s wife, Pam, and kind of grounded portions of the story. I was also surprised by how much it made me care about Mike. I really enjoyed that actor.

If you’re a stickler for facts, you might struggle watching the movie. The timing of some events is a bit wonky, but worked well for a drama. If you can turn off that part of the brain, ignore things like ring rope colors, I think you’ll enjoy the movie a lot.

As far as the common complaints from wrestling fans that I’ve seen: while a lot of Fritz’s worst actions aren’t shown, I don’t think audiences won’t be horrified by him. Some people near me gasped at some of the stuff Fritz said. And the Ric Flair stuff seems a bit overblown now that I’ve seen it. Ric Flair shows up for a short time and it’s just not a perfect impression (and a bad wig). Meanwhile, I was captivated by the Harley Race segment.

I plan on recommending it to drama, and especially sports drama, fans. And I wouldn’t mind buying it once it’s out. If you’re susceptible to ear worms, you’ll probably get some of the music stuck in your head.

    And happy new year, everyone!

Sami Callihan To Work As An Agent In MLW | Fightful News

Didn’t he stop by in ROH/AEW recently? I guess maybe that didn’t go well. I’ve heard lots of people say he has a good mind for backstage stuff.

What are your last minute hopes for wrestling in 2023?

We're getting closer to the end of 2023. All in all, I think it's been a good year in wrestling. Is there anything you'd like to see happen before we ring in 2024? A new champ crowned? The end of a storyline? A major breakout win for one of your favorite wrestlers?

I'm mostly a "I just hope we all have fun" type of fan, so I don't have too many major things I'm hoping for. A silly holiday themed street fight featuring Jeff Jarrett does sound pretty fun though.
