In 1999 id Software released the source code to their classic game Doom (under the GNU General Public License). The Freedoom project aims to fill this gap and create a complete free and libre first person shooter game.

Since 2008. Here's some footage of the early version. In 2015 I rewrote the game in my SDL2/OpenGL based engine and redid all the content, then more or less "finished" the game in 2020-2021. I'm working on a fairly big patch right now though. Maybe in a few weeks it'll be released.
