Opera explains how it plans to keep uBlock Origin support as Google Chrome disables it
  • What is there to recognize? This is a survey conducted on 2,000 Americans. 2,000 is just 0.00057% of the whole US population which is estimated at 345,426,571.

The average user absolutely do not use block ads unless it is enabled by default in the browser. Chrome with the largest market share does not block ads by default and if you are going out of your way to block ads or use a browser like brave that do that by default you my friend are already not an average user.

  • Opera explains how it plans to keep uBlock Origin support as Google Chrome disables it
  • Yes I agree. If you are using adblocker you are already not an average user. Using A adblocker with custom filters put you on the extreme end and most of those users are either already on FF or have migrated to FF since the MV3 announcement.

And let's not forget adblock made for MV3 will work well enough for those users who aren't using adblocker with custom filters.

Even if Google kill off adblock completely with its browser, chrome will still be dominating the market by a huge margin.

  • Denuvo respond to their rep for tanking games - "I'm a gamer myself, and therefore I know what I'm talking about"
  • Denuvo profits off game developers fears of their game not being well received by gamers for reasons such as performance issues, bugs, or at its foundation is just a mediocre game.

I like to believe that the narrative that piracy hurt sales is only true for medicore/bad games because the average pirate is broke and they are not going to buy your game just because of denuvo and those who can afford to buy will choose not to after getting to try it.

On the other hand good games will always be commerical successful with or without denuvo.

  • The decline of sex in films
  • I watch all kind of films and I have no issues with the latter. It is a good thing we are getting less of those unnecessary sex scene that add nothing to the story, plot or character development.

  • The decline of sex in films
  • When it comes to surprise sex scene yes. The whole thing is just awkward. But when i am watching a film and i am expecting it to happen then no.

Uncomfortable with sex? No. My point was I don't want to be watching an action movie and get a surprise sex scene that last too long and add nothing to the story. Maybe i am weird but clearly i am not the only one that appreciate a good film without those unnecessary sex scene. Otherwise we wouldn't be seeing a steep decline of sex in films.

  • The decline of sex in films
  • Yes i am glad i am seeing less of those useless sex scenes. In my opinion implied sex is better than graphical sex scene most of the time. You don't need to see them have sex to know that they did and it will get the point across just the same to the audience without all the awkward and cringey aspect that comes with two actors playing pretend.

  • The decline of sex in films
  • I get art. But there are alot of nudity in the mainstream films that are not that. If i want to watch sex there is porn. If i want nudity in art those exist too.

Don't you feel awkward watching two actors play pretend? Or having your 5.1 audio system start moaning in a film when you are not expecting those type of content. Random naked body parts i don't mind those but often time you can remove those and nothing of value will be lost. So my question is why?

  • The decline of sex in films
  • My brain just go ..... when random awkward 30 second sex scene happens out of nowhere or they just start making out, kissing and moaning loudly then suddenly we are in the next scene and everything is back to normal. Why?

Unless the film is sexual in nature random full frontal nudity, stray tits, stray ass, visible privates always makes me so confused.

  • Can AI make video games more immersive? Some studios turn to AI-fueled NPCs for more interaction
  • Yes it can. But we are still ways to go before it become a reality. The current AI is still missing the 'intelligence' and is no better than a a well designed predetermined script.

For every game that try to make good use of AI to improve on the player experience and immersion there will be hundreds, thousands more that do the exact opposite. Because that is capitalism for you. Just look at Upscaling/Frame generation.

  • Massively Overthinking: Are we over early access MMOs and the ‘early access trap’ yet?
  • Aren't most games these days released in beta state? I can't remember the last time I played a game that didn't takes weeks and even months of updates for the game to be free from technical issues, bugs or missing content.

All because the average gamer is willing to pay full price for 'early access' and will probably never revisit the game 6 months or 1 year after launched to play the finished product.

  • Is this true about Generation gap in Piracy?
  • i don't get this 'generation gap' thing. There are also Milennials who are just as clueless.

You can always dive into the whole private tracker, sonarr/radarr + media server setup if you want superior quality or just to host your own files. But if you are happy with what streaming sites/apps provide that is fine too.

I for one am glad that piracy is easily accessible by anyone who has access to the internet.

  • Publishers face 20% game revenue reduction if Denuvo DRM is cracked quickly, according to new study
  • All I know is piracy definitely has an impact on bad games/products and if you give the consumer something worth buying, they will most definitely buy it if or when they can afford to.

They might also recommend it to their friends or talk about it online which lead to additional sales that would not happen if they didn't sail the high sea.

  • This AMD RX 7800 XT might be the best graphics card value right now: $429, plus two free games
  • Yes it is worth it if you want to upgrade now.

Even if you somehow find an used 6900xt that is cheaper you are giving up better rt performance, new features, longer driver support, warranty so imo i don't think that is worth over getting a brand new 7800xt at its current price point.

Waiting is also an option. But it is hard to tell with AMD not competing for the high-end market with their 8000 series. Owners of 7900xtx may just opt to wait till 9000 series to upgrade.

  • This AMD RX 7800 XT might be the best graphics card value right now: $429, plus two free games
  • Tomshardware's GPU Hierarchy has the 6900xt being around 3.2% better in gaming performance (FPS) with 1080P Ultra. 5% in 1440p Ultra. Raise the power limit on the 6800xt and overclock and it is basically a 6900xt.

That was also why 6800xt was the best price/performance and the most popular card of the 6000 series.

There are 6900xt with xtx and xtxh die with the latter being in another class of its own. The xtxh 6900xt offer the same level of performance as the 6950xt and those are the only 6900xt that were worth getting over a 6800xt.

  • This AMD RX 7800 XT might be the best graphics card value right now: $429, plus two free games
  • I am perfectly happy with my 6900xt. Running it at 220w limit which still manage 20k graphical score in Time-spy. The trade-off was 10% performance vs 350w for 37% power reduction and roughly 5% performance lost vs 300w for 27% power reduction.

Previously was running tuned for 300w but have since switched to 220w for good. Performance lost in game is not noticeable but the reduction from 220w-250w max power draw to 150-170w is huge. PC is completely silent and i can game alot longer without having to turn on the AC.

7800 XT is a good purchase since it is pretty much a better version of 6900xt out of the box. (Not comparing with those xtxh 6900xt that are throwing away power efficiency for that additional 10% performance vs running at 350w limit.

  • Revenue effects of Denuvo digital rights management on PC video games
  • My opinion is that with or without denuvo a good game or product will always sell itself.

Take Wukong black myth for example. Even without denuvo i believe it will still become a huge commerical success. Perhaps it would even have sold more units because there are people who simply refuse to buy any game no matter how good it is as long as it has denuvo.

Piracy definitely has an impact on mediocre game that is lacking in every aspect. But then again the average person who pirate is probably broke and is probably never going buying it anyway so 🤷‍♂️

  • Steam now tells gamers up front that they're buying a license, not a game
  • When you are six hours into playing Battlefield and you run out of ammo in your clip, and we ask you for a dollar to reload, you're really not very price sensitive at that point in time. A consumer gets engaged in a property, they might spend 10,20,30,50 hours on the game and then when they're deep into the game they're well invested in it. We're not gouging, but we're charging and at that point in time the commitment can be pretty high. But it is a great model and I think it represents a substantially better future for the industry.

I was reminded of this. They would if they could. I am glad i am not living in that timeline.
