Someone should tell China they are doing it all wrong.
  • Yes I can flip a coin and half the time it lands on heads I can then claim that heads is always going to be the outcome of all coin flips.

I worked with a guy back in the day who was a dual citizen and owned homes back there. They were far ahead of us in terms of transportation, payments and conveniences. He went back every year for a month to party, even taking a few of us along.

All those nail houses you see are homes near roads, do you see one in the way of a HSR? You can't build a HSR around a home like you can with a road.

  • And everyone is free to fight you in court and sue the shit out of you if they find a flaw in your design.

Btw, don't you think that there are others that want to stay but didn't get a chance to? It's just the one dude who gets no water or electricity? No one else wanted to stay in the whole neighborhood?

What do you think happened before nail houses?

  • How many new highways do you see being built?? I've lived in California all my life and I've never seen a brand new highway being built. I've seen lanes expanded a few feet...But never a new one built.

Also, you can't just put rail tracks anywhere as you can with land.

The politicians clearly work for reelection. Unfortunately, when a human being is placed in a position of power you usually get this kind of thing. Power corrupts.

  • Someone should tell China they are doing it all wrong.
  • It's not a good thing in the long run if someone can do that. I'd have loved the HSR from NCAL to SCAL, would have avoided all those hours on the 5.

There are pros and cons basically, there isn't a system that is perfect.

  • Someone should tell China they are doing it all wrong.
  • There's this thing called land ownership which is a right...the state can eminent domain them but they'd have to fight it in court.

Doubt they have that in China, if your home is in the way of a planned development...it won't be soon. You don't buy land from the government there, it's on a lease basis.

That and everyone in politics has to be aligned. If the top down order is to build a HSR, no cog in the system can just slow shit down for the hell of it. Doesn't work that way in the US, as witnessed by the myriad times that the government can never approve the budget before it's due.

  • Hacker spins up 1 million virtual servers to illegally mine crypto
  • Funny thing I had a paranoid freakout too before I got hacked on AWS, I had bought a visa gift card and that's what I put in as a payment card on AWS. Of course they know where I live and could still screw me, but they would have to do it on their own dime.

They make it really hard to leave or just use a specific service only. I use them for DNS, objectively it's supposed to be cheap AF pay yearly, but now I have to pay $2 a month just to do all the auxiliary stuff to notify me that I got hacked.

I'm buying a server rack soon and just got a full symmetric fiber line put in so I can do my own hosting.

  • It's not fun, I got hacked through an archived git repo, for when I was learning to use AWS, following tutorials and whatnot.

Forgot about it for years, then out of nowhere got hit for 27k...needless to say I said good luck collecting that shit.

They waived it all granted I logged in and deleted all resources that were running as well as removed all identities. Sure as hell I did that and saw a ton of identities out in the middle of nowhere. Fucking hackers ran up a shit ton of AWS sagemaker resources trying to probably hack some dude's wallet.

Every time I see a tutorial on how to deploy x in AWS, I get pissed. The newbies need to learn about administration before they start deploying shit on cloud infra.

  • Young Americans turn against Boomers over Social Security
  • I don't like the fucker either, but you don't have to be a libertarian to see that our government isn't working right now. We need to find a way to fix our government in such a manner that bad faith actors cannot survive in it. Otherwise we're just throwing money at them which they can then use to enrich their friends.

  • Young Americans turn against Boomers over Social Security
  • No it won't, the ratio of retirees to the workforce is getting higher and higher because of all the shit that this fucked up country does to burden the current generation for all the problems caused by the boomers. I'd much rather let the boomers experience the finding out phase after they've been fucking around so much.

What's worse is that the life expectancy of those boomers is going to add unsustainable strain to the system. As society progresses you'll eventually have less births, which means this problem might be getting even worse in the future. The only way it would be sustainable is that you have constant growth in both people and the economy. That's literally not possible.

Yes, it's ok to take more from you because it's how social security can be offered to everyone, including you.

I'd much rather take my chances, take whatever you've taken from me I don't want it back, but let me do my own investments and leave me with more disposable income. Fix the government before dumping more tax money into the money pit. I'll happily vote for the guy who will try.
