  • I was thinking of actually doing it, I do own a domain or two after all

  • Welp, time to move to another instance

  • ASUS is apparently killing the ability to root present and future Zenfones
  • Oh come on. I wanted a zenfone, I wanted the compact phone with a headphone jack and actual components. But if they're being cocky about it, there's no point. I guess I'll have to find another brand

  • Title
  • Exactly! There's no entity aside from the instance admin, mods, and you. No corporation trying to maintain an image, no one stopping you from creating other accounts with different identities in other servers... It's just you and the instances. And if you don't like one, just go to another one, it's all up to you!

And I love that it's going mainstream. Keep it up y'all, let's keep these instances active

  • Privacy with Google's Gboard
  • Does Lineage allow this? It's the rom I'm considering for my Galaxy Note 10

  • 10 years ago, Google launched the 2nd-gen Nexus 7, and no tablet has captured its magic since
  • I remember listening the launch of this one in the local radio, the hosts sounded excited, I was excited, everything was great. Never got one though, it was my dream device at the time

  • This is Depressing
  • Amazing post. As someone born in the 2000s, this is definitely an unknown story for me (I grew up with WinXP), and I didn't get to live this virtual freedom revolution. I do remember that MS owned everything though, they were the big promise, the big company that made computers and the internet work. Microsoft was everywhere.

Definitely an interesting story, I will definitely continue supporting open standards and free software, possibly even contributing once I get better at programming ;)

  • What habits do you have to protect your privacy?
  • Agreed. I'd still recommend a VPN in case your ISP is some sort of big company that sells or sends your traffic to other companies or the gov though, or if you want to torrent in the US, Germany or other countries where the copyright laws are super enforced.

Just make sure you choose a reliable VPN, not some random VPN from youtube. Read articles, reviews, investigate, ask in privacy-focused communities

  • There's a reason why I'm structuring a home server build right now, I'm so tired of this internet, I just want to enjoy my things and not feel like an asshole supporting these companies. I don't want to live in a dystopian net, even though we're slowly approaching it. What will I do about private messaging? Who knows, I might have to make my own app to encrypt my messages before sending them through another app.

  • OpenAI announces ChatGPT for Android
  • I think it works with OpenAI's whisper, which is a voice recognition AI. It works really well, can't wait to have it on my android

  • Apple says it will remove services such as FaceTime and iMessage from the UK rather than weaken security if new proposals are made law and acted upon.
  • I hate how people turn a blind eye to these things nowadays. They're willing to give away their personal lives at the expense of the shittiest excuses out there. Privacy should be a necessity, ffs.

The Llama Is Back: Winamp Announces Historic Relaunch
  • I heard that the name was pretty much dead, so someone else just bought them and made an excuse to sell NFTs, pretty much what happened with LimeWire. At least they're marketing the subscriptions more, are they trying to be the Patreon for music? I mean, bandcamp exists...
