  • Clearly not what he wishes. Shows no regrets whatsoever. He wishes for everyone to lick his boots and obey whatever he thinks is right. He's acting like he's a king or god or so... He gets what he deserves, disrespect and contracts failing. They might lead technologically but that's no reason to take all this BS. It's extra reason not to.

  • Some of them (ahum you know which one) did lose actual value: the entire credibility of their biggest brands are down the drain for years to come... In that way the stockprices do really show that they are losing out. Some others really are losing (sort of) equal access to big important markets... The loss is real, even tho I agree with the sentiment of your post, the lowering stocks predict lowering income, lowering dividends which these people expect to rake in eternally to keep their billionaire lifestyle afloat, etc. They are slowly becoming less wealthy from the shennanigans. Not quick enough tho. A billionaire is a thing that just shouldn't be allowed to exist ever anywhere.

  • I want to protest, but if I miss work then I might lose my job, which would cost me my health insurance and likely my house.

I think this is exactly why protesting is necessary. It is the entire reason why unions emerged in the first place. Pool together resources, so everyone can join in on a strike and the strike can take weeks or months without people going hungry.

I blame the barely existance of affordable health care, unemployment systems, social housing etc. as a main reason for where the USA got to where it is now. It's always everyone for themselves and people like Trump or Musk are the very personification of this basic idea underlining every aspect of USA society, on steroids. There is no society, there is only eternal struggle between all individuals who are all very scared of not being succesfull and/or ending in absolute poverty because they dare to think outside of this dominating idea that everyone is what they themselves chose/do/are...

  • Honestly, it's still a real job even if they feel it isn't anymore.

They scripted some collection of mindnumbing stupid tasks, while everything works it's all fine and they have lots of free time to "think about optimising other things in the organisation" (or in reality do whatever they like for private projects).

But when SHTF (and it always will at some point), this person is the one that can fix it all in a few hours max (and possible optimise thing further), while some external firm would struggle for weeks. That can worth keeping them on the payroll, even if the bosses are aware of the situation.

This is exactly the kind of job that should be rewarded. The person doing the exact same paper pushing for 40h a week without questioning how dumb the task is and how it could be optimised is the real resources drain.

  • No joke, I can see UK and France offering nuclear retaliation response promise to Canada, outside of NATO. I think trump really is dumb enough to start real war with for example Canada. NATO is dead, rest of the west needs to make similar protection agreements without USA, besides NATO , for when shit really hits the fan (I think it will, it's a matter of when, not if).

  • I don't think it's within other countries capabilities (Israel maybe, but why would they), nor in their intrest.

In some failed states it's considerably easier to have certain people eliminated (and for sure has happened many many times).

Current USA is an internal affair with external effects. Other countries can't do anything, that's what happens when 1 country has the very biggest strongest military and security machine ever (way bigger than any competitor, no country get near). Even if they'ld want to, there is no way. And the current situation is unpredicatble and not stable, it would become even less predictable and less stable when certain people were to be assassinated.

If assassinations happen in the trump admin in the near future, I think it would more likely come from USA security services internally. Not sure if it's for the better. Decent chance in that case of civil war type scenarios tbh.

  • It is incredibly frustrating to see for example Ursula Von der Leyen preaching "EU STRONG" stuff on fucking shitter. Really? This is your way of showing how strong the EU is and we shouldn't or can't rely on USA? By posting your I'm strong message on the precise platform the US chief nazification officer owns? FFS.

If all EU governments together decide to ditch shitter and move to mastodon instances, media follows. It's a pretty cheap measure to implement, too.

  • I love OSM. Way more than google.

For hiking and cycling it is absolutely supreme to google in every way. Google will often just send you a "car-path" by foot or bike, while OSM will try to steer you to smaller, slower roads/paths (and way more of those are mapped on OSM then on google).

The main issue on OSM for me is the lacking up-to-date business information... If OSM shows shops on maps: don't rely on it. It would be very interesting if the business/reviews/pictures etc part of google maps could somehow make it (open source version) to OSM.

  • NL: Praxisdienst.nl 28 €.

If it's available for 28 € on amazon, chances often are it is available for a similar prices elsewhere, because it means the producer is willing to sell to suppliers at a price that makes 28 € a doable selling price for them, not just for amazon.

  • Meanwhile, Italy, one of the sunniest countries in EU, at about 11 % solar production. Spain is at 17 %, Greece at 19 %. Not so sunny Germany is at 12 %. Not sunny at all NL is at 17 %...
