Things that are/were irritating to me the most:
- Polish major platform doesn't allow multiple reads of the same book. I want to track the number of books I read each year and this was a problem if I reread something: I had to decide when to mark it or mark other edition to count it.
- Goodread's mess with book editions. There is no filtering on the edition list, so something like "Son Kichot" has thousands of editions and good luck finding yours.
- Goodread's inability to properly mark releases that are split in parts. So the LoTR: Fellowship is T1 of the series. And someone could argue that The Hobbit is T0 (there could be also something like short story between them - T0.5). That's okay. But now someone is releasing the Fellowship in two books. And the system doesn't work anymore as usually these are added as different works of Tolkien. It's half policy half design problem, but it makes checking the author's bibliography painful.
It was discontinued (link), but it gave me new ideas where to look. Thanks!
Hello,
I'm looking for an Android App that will offer a widget displaying some text on my screen. I want this text to be custom - more customization the better.
F-Droid availibity would be a big plus. If there is nothing OpenSource available, other suggestions also would be okay (but as the last resort).
I think I would like the idea (and at first this my understanding) if you could buy one wallpaper for $1 (or a pack of few for $3) and the 70-90% would go to the artist. Also app would have to limit tracking to just some basic stuff. I know you can get wallpapers free, but supporting something that looks great on your screen would be a nice option.
Of course subscription service for this is mad.
Will they be now on FDroid? I think only one Proton app is there and it's a little bit sad.
Hi, I'm amateur, but interested in history. I'm trying to catch up on XX century (now watching The Vietnam War) and one of the more intriguing people is H. Kissinger. I know he had a large impact on the world, but lately I just see heavy critisim of his policies and ideas (e.g. John Oliver's jokes).
I wanted to ask for a good book recommnedation (or documentary) that would explain what he did wrong (and what he did well). I bought years ago his book "Diplomacy" in some supermarket, but I'm worried that it's not a good starter point to learn about something I have no real knowledge about - his own book will probably set me on really subjective path.
I'm interested in either something about Kissinger himself, but maybe more about the general world politics of his time. I would appreciate any recommendation (if book would be popular enough to be translated Polish that would be a plus, but not requirement) :)
Usually hot pasta and cold - from fridge - strawberries with cream (and sometimes sugar).
Metroidvania in Destiny sounds a little bit crazy, but it's probably still better then trying to stick with same thing over and over again.
I play now rarely - a 2-3 hours a week and the current cadence of content is sustaining my apetite, but I understand a lot of people want a little bit more.
I'm worried that Bungie will replace 60USD expansion with two 40USD ones, calling that "a better value" and a lot of players will not put up with it. Especially with all the cuts (QA and art) they may have a problem keeping up with quality.
I'm wishing them well, but it may be a hard sell.
I'm most pumped for the Stray Gods Musical Game. It's also on the list.
Reminded me The Raid (2012) movie concept - jest imagine these cats going through all these floors.
