  • Primordial soup gamer

  • That smell that tells you it's Spring.

    Fresh bread.

    Gasoline.

    Bleach.

    That head shop incense smell.

The smell of detergent or fabric softener from a nearby house doing laundry.

Whatever that syrup is they use for canned peaches and fruit salad cups.

  • Dark Souls 2, again. I'm helping a new player and the really bad co-op mechanics might be enough to push me to try out some mods like seamless co-op and the lighting engine which looks gorgeous.

Dome Keeper. I didn't realize it was made in Godot which is neat and encouraging to see. I really like the gameplay loop and graphics and look forward to unlocking more things to shake it up.

New Super Lucky's Tale. The burrow mechanic was pretty fun. While the game wasn't very challenging it was still a good playthrough and visually strong. The best part was the bonus world at the end where you really get to let the abilities rip, especially in combat. I wish there were more enemies around in the rest of the game because the way you can chain together attacks and create a "flow" was fun and seriously under-utilized.

  • Sounds like the relationship is over and neither of them has admitted it yet.

  • You mentioned having your phone in a another comment, so I'll suggest you look into emulation. SNES and Gameboy (various generations) work pretty well if you can get used to not having physical buttons.

  • My last name is neither my mom or dad's. It's my mom's ex-husband's from before I was born. I guess she still legally had the name after they split, and I inherited it - not her side of the family or my father's last name, since they weren't married. So I carry a last name for some family I'm not a part of biologically or otherwise, and have never met anyone from that family. And I'm estranged from the entirety of both sides of my biological family, so neither of those names would be viable replacements.

It does and has always bothered me a bit. I've never felt pride about my name or where I came from. I've never felt the sense of family that my friends seemed to have. Or the sense of identity that might come from wearing a jersey with your last name across the back. I just feel like a misfit, so in a way this misfit name is kind of appropriate. It's hasn't been a priority to change it, and nobody gives a shit for spite to have any effect. They would never find out.

  • The boot drive with the fur (with the fur)

  • Immolation. Their sound on recordings is fine, but their live sound was unexpectedly amazing.

  • That, or he might actually like Mark Carney. The entire tone seemed to change after they spoke.

  • I have one, only because it was an open-box special. I don't really notice a difference compared to a flat screen when I'm immersed in a game or whatever.

  • It absolutely brought me back to the late 90s shooters I grew up with. Lots of fun, but there were also a lot of parts I got stuck on, too. I will need some time before I play again / consider the BM version - maybe after HL2. Thanks for the additional info.

    Half-Life

Dark Souls 2 - helping a new player. It's been a lot of fun, and also frustrating because of the stupid soul memory mechanic. I want to try a co op mod (and other mods) but it seems like a lot of work.

  • I'll clear my throat, jingle my keys, make louder footsteps to make my presence known, especially at night or when turning a corner. It's not just for women, but for any person or animal to not be startled.

I think it's a combination of courtesy, habit from having worked in a restaurant kitchen, and camping in bear country.

  • Sad music is the best. Deftones are way more horny than angry.

  • There are so many good ones. Grave Warden set, Sanctum Knight set, Forlorn set, Moon Butterfly set, Heide Knight set, Warlock Mask, Vengarl's Helm.. The list goes on and on.

  • Bread. I started making my own and it's way better and cheaper than the cheapest stuff from the store. And it's easier to make than I expected.

Laundry. It costs $6 Canadian (maybe more now) per load, so I do it by hand in a plastic bin in the bathtub and dry it on a rack with a fan for now, since it's winter. It works surprisingly well.

Eating out. My grocery budget is small but I make it work. It's easy to spend a week's worth of the budget on one meal at a restaurant, so I just don't.

Going out in general, to things like movies and concerts. Not just the cost of entry, but also the wear and tear on my car and potential repair costs, and price of gas, make it not worth it. I have enough fun enjoying my hobbies at home anyway.

  • I just finished my first playthrough of Half-Life and wish I had known about this alternate version, it looks great. Thanks for the write up.

  • 3D platformers, my beloved.

Thanks for sharing and giving some things to look forward to.
