  • No complaints here. At first I thought the gui was inferior to surfshark's. But then I realized surfshark's only looks more polished (at least on linux/gnome). It works fine.

And if you really want to be paranoid (while also using an environment-destroying tech), you could pay with monero and then they don't really have much info on you (except your IP)

  • Until corporate Dems are thrown out, the reality is that Republicans remain more likely to tackle Big Tech abuses.

What a fucking dumbass. Yes, dems suck. But at least Lina Khan was head of the FTC and starting to change how antitrust laws are enforced. Did he delete this post after Trump was inaugurated with 3 of the richest tech billionaires?

  • leave the United States in the near future

To where, though? The fascists are rising around the world. If you have the ability to move to the EU and get citizenship, then that's a great option. But it's expensive. And if you don't get citizenship, you risk becoming basically stateless.

And again, it's a global phenomenon. The UK's labour party is as bad as the GOP on trans issues. France, Germany and Canada keep seeing their far-right parties make gains every election cycle.

IMO the safest thing for trans people to do is move to a placxe within the US that is trans friendly. That's most of New England, most of the west coast, and certain midwest cities.

  • But the shootdown underlines just how dangerous the Red Sea corridor has become, with ongoing attacks on shipping by the Iranian-backed Houthis despite U.S. and European military coalitions patrolling the area.

    Eric Andre shooting Hannibal

"Why would the Houthis do this?"

  • Gnome ftw

KDE Plasma is really nice, I love all the settings. But every time I try it, I give up after a couple weeks because I get annoyed at the hangups/crashes. Maybe because I'm always on old hardware. But I've never had Gnome crash. In 2 weeks, I had to ctrl-alt-f2 to reset plasma like 5 times. I never had to do that with gnome.

Sometimes on Gnome I really wish I could change a setting that would be easy in Plasma. but it's just not worth the hiccups. And it's nice that Plasma gives access to a bunch of different task switchers. But I couldn't find any that work as well as the Gnome task switcher. Plasma feels like beta testing

❤️ to KDE, though. I love K3b, KDEconnect (plus the GSconnect gnome extension), kate, krita, etc.
