Jesus fucking christ, how the fuck does he not go to jail for that? Civil lawsuit isn't nearly enough for that. Hell, aside from the clear assault that's getting close to illegal confinement when he dragged her back to his hotel room.
Remember when the slashdot effect was a thing that mattered?
Reading up on the DREAM act is one of the most frustrating things you can do. It has been tried and failed a ridiculous number of times over the past few decades.
I think it depends on whether investment choices is something the board normally weighs in on, but your point is good: if this were the other way around, I would probably feel the action was justified.
I've been boycotting Amazon since 1999, so no I haven't been paying attention.
Ah, so dark as in evil, not dark as in low light. I hadn't heard of that, but going through the darkpatterns.org website is basically a laundry list of shit I hate.
to chop them up, distort them, and use them for partisan political purposes,” Siskel wrote.
OK, so you don't agree with the anti-genocide people and decide not to divest from Israel, fine... but putting someone on leave for insubordination because they listened to reasonable requests to divert investments? That's bullshit.
I'm picturing in my head a farmer sitting on a wooden stool putting a little scorpion up on a platform to milk it and calling it Betsie.
I hate Amazon probably more than most people in the world and have been boycotting them since roughly 1999, but... "dark patterns???"
EDIT: TIL a new term, and it refers to something I have hated for years.
I wonder if it 1L of pure venom worth $10M or 1L of medicine made from the pure venom. The processing might add to the cost per liter.
This was a problem created by the refs in the PL, not by VAR. When La Liga is able to have a mostly non-controversial VAR with the likes of Hernandez Hernandez (who's so bad you have to say his name twice), then it isn't due to the quality of the refs. Even games in CONCACAF, which has to deal with CONCACAF refs AND players, is able to handle VAR fine. It's weird how the biggest issues are from one league.
Seems to work decently in most other leagues and tournaments. Maybe not perfectly, but better than before and WAY better than in the PL.
I don't really put much weight on Trump not calling down to Pence to check in on him. Trump only cares about himself and wouldn't have called down regardless of what was happening. I do put a lot of weight in the unannounced change in security detail for Pence on the day of the insurrection. Pence was smart enough to turn down getting into a black car with a secret service person he didn't know.

Thank you, that was bugging me.... just not enough to actually search it myself.
NFL kicker has to be a really weirdly rough job. You don't really do much work during the game and have far less risk of violent physical contact, but you have to practice your ass off outside the game because the kicking game has little margin for error. Your role is absolutely critical and can easily decide the outcome of almost every game, but nobody respects you and almost nobody knows your name unless you fuck up real bad. I used to be a huge NFL nerd but can only name three kickers: Pat McAfee because he's a TV personality now, Sebastion Janikowski because of his name and how rotund he was, and Ray Finkle who isn't even a real person just a movie kicker. I can't even remember the name of the Hall of Fame kicker for the Pats and Colts who won many Super Bowls.
And yeah, nobody will give a shit if this shitstain goes away. Will the NFL, well-known for their respect for human rights and progressive views, actually do anything about it, though?
Spurs had some decent chances but just couldn't get in. Great keeping on both sides.
Fingers crossed for ya, buddy.
Exactly this. The 2008 bubble bursting helped investors buy cheap. I was trying to buy in 2012 and kept getting under-bid and losing to cash offers from people who just let the house sit empty for a year or two before selling at a profit. The only way I was able to buy back then was finding a house owned by Fannie, which legally could only be sold to someone who lived in it as their primary residence.
The amount of money being stockpiled in the US (and around the world) is insane, so any major drop in housing prices means more investors will just buy it all up. And related: that's also why I don't see the bubble bursting. There are still people buying at insane prices with relatively high interest rates right now. There might be a slow down or a slight drop when those people finally get homes, but the bubble in 2008 was from subprime mortgages (not nearly as much of a thing now) and banks not lending (not a thing now). Even if banks got scared and stopped lending, the cash offers are still coming.
While whale watching in Sea of Cortez, they were saying one small pod of juvenile orcas are straight up dicks. They will attack anything and everything, including taking down blue whales.
I can absolutely see this as hooliganism.
Is there a way to force a sync/update of a federated community? When I go to https://soccer.forum I can see all kinds of recent activity. When I go to https://lemmy.world/c/main@soccer.forum I don't see any new posts for the last 16 days.
I found a very active soccer community randomly while surfing not logged in. When I got back to my computer that was logged in, I had the hardest time finding it. And when I finally found it, the community didn't show any new posts for the last 7 days and was far less active. I swapped to a different browser that wasn't logged into lemmy and could see all the newest posts.
So I tried subscribing to see if that would force a sync, but it didn't do anything.
Basically, when I'm logged into lemmy.world I cannot see any new posts on lemmy.world/c/main@soccer.forum but when I'm logged out and go to the exact same address I can see all the newest posts.
