Fallacy of relative privation (also known as "appeal to worse problems" or "not as bad as")
Just because Lenovo is worse doesn’t make Spotify correct. Also, he does rant about other anti repair e-waste generators.
I think the image generators are good for generating shitposts quickly. Best use case I’ve found thus far. Not worth the environmental impact, though.
When a metric becomes a target, it ceases to be a good metric.
Following the trail to the real source of the 90% figure, this doesn’t appear to be a current statistic.
The success rate for the U.S.-designed Excalibur shells, for example, fell sharply over a period of months — to less than 10 percent hitting their targets — before Ukraine’s military abandoned them last year, according to the confidential Ukrainian assessments.

This also is only regarding GPS jamming, which isn’t the only method of navigation. I feel the article is exaggerating quite a bit. I have no doubt GPS jamming was quite effective a year ago, I also have no doubt the Ukrainians have adapted since then.
If you follow the source that your source links, they’re just talking about GPS jamming. This is far from jamming everything.
Source is suspect, basically some dude’s blog. I’d take this with a grain of salt.
Because it’s good to get rid of old equipment, at least from the military’s perspective. They get money for the old hardware and now can justify getting more new stuff.
I picked Plok up out of a bargain bin in the 90s and it changed my musical preferences for life. One of the best sounding SNES soundtracks imo. RIP Geoff.
There’s a great reconstruction of Beach, the musician sought out all the original samples and redid it with modern production techniques. Sounds amazing: https://youtu.be/qLpyA27MZRA
I was doing this on Reddit 10 years ago, so...
Here it's being used a singular group of things
It's not singular, "users" is plural. "A group of users" is singular, but "users" is referring to multiple individuals. The correct verb to use with users is are.
For example, you would be incorrect to say "There is users online", but you could say "There is a group of users online".
"There are a lot fewer users" is the proper grammar. You wouldn't say "There is users online", you'd say "There are users online" because users is plural. "There is a user online" would be singular.
“users” is plural and countable so it should be “are” and “fewer”
Nope. There’s a good documentary called Sherpa you should check out. Also - why do so many people know who Sir Edmund Hillary is, but not Tenzing Norgay? They both were the first up there. Sherpas have been treated poorly as long as people have been summiting the mountain.
Been rocking a set of ER-20xs for years now and I’d not see live music without them. It’s like having your own personal volume knob. I can put them in and get right near the speakers without blowing my ears out, or hang out by the sound guy with them only partially inserted.
I had a pair of 30$ musicians earplugs, but they really changed what I could hear. At concerts I couldn't understand the lyrics; basically they changed the audible frequencies too much.
Sounds like they weren’t musicians earplugs after all. What brand? I’ve been using some Etymotic plugs for a while now and I like em for concerts. Gotta protect those ears!
That’s not what nearsightedness is. It has nothing to do with what you can see, but rather where the focus point falls relative to the retina. Nearsighted means the focus point is in front of the retina, farsighted means the focus point is behind the retina.

What you’re describing is lack of accommodation, or presbyopia.
a lot of the subtlety comes from the imagery and symbols around you as you progress through the game
One of the things I did appreciate about the game was seeing how grimy and worn down everyone got as the game progressed. That was an excellent small detail.
What I didn’t like was the blunt messaging. I was expecting something a little deeper or more subtle than what I got. As a game, the clunky movement/cover system, simple enemy AI, and guns that just didn’t feel great hampered the experience. It’s very linear and there are forced choices (eg white phosphorus) that give you control but no choice but to be evil. The graphics are lackluster compared to its contemporaries, but I did enjoy the soundtrack at times. I really got into it with a few of those songs. Unfortunately that only happened a few times during the weekend I beat it in. It was okay, but I was expecting a lot more based on what people said about it.
I dunno how you could miss it in Spec Ops, that game is extremely blatant with messaging. I recently patient gamered it and was rather unimpressed. Bioshock still holds up though.
Buy merch on Bandcamp, on a Bandcamp Friday. 100% of the money goes to the artist/label. They do these once a quarter or so IIRC.
A rumour that Microsoft wants to take over the PC market with a £12 billion acquisition of Valve is being ridiculed on social media.
Is it possible to transfer favorite communities from an account on one server to another? Say for example I'd like to have an alt with the same favorites on another server for a backup. Is this possible with wefwef or other means?
Looking to get my main off lemmy.world to help load balance, but I don't want to refavorite everything; if I could somehow keep them in sync that would be ideal.
