Budget gamer here. Looking to buy a laptop.
  • Honestly if you're looking to go budget get second hand parts and build a desktop. I bought a desktop with a 2700x and 1050 ti for $400 AUD. I sold the 1050 ti bought a 5700xt and a 650w psu. Cost me about $700 AUD total. This can play all the latest games at 1080p medium to high settings no problem. That's about $450 USD.

  • The Weekly 'What are you playing?' Discussion - 25-09-2023
  • I just finished rift apart. Definitely my fave games in the series after the original trilogy. I think it might be the best looking game I ever played and the dimension swapping is seriously impressive.

I'm currently on Hogwarts Legacy. About 7 hours in and it's not too bad. More RPG elements and a bigger world than expected. Also looks amazing but I can't make too much of an opinion on it just yet.

  • I am joining a gym, I really only want to loose weight (expressly in my belly and chin area)
  • There is no way to target specific areas of fat. You just need to expend more energy than you consume and you'll get skinnier. So do lots of exercise, decrease portions, eat healthier and sleep better. It sounds simple but it takes a long time and a lot of effort to build and maintain good habits.

  • Please help me choose my next trilogy trilogy
  • As others have said I would 100% recommended the Mass Effect trilogy.

I Also really enjoyed the crysis trilogy, it's like playing through a Michael Bay alien movie. The 2nd and 3rd games especially.

I'd also recommend the Arkham and Witcher trilogies. For the Witcher trilogy I'd wait till the remake of the first game comes out if you plan on playing them in order, as the first game hasn't aged particularly well.

  • Distro suggestions
  • I've been using RebornOS, which is an arch based distro. I think it fits what you want perfectly. It's a rolling release and has heaps of customisability and nothing is forced on you.

  • Weekly Recommendations Thread: What do you suggest?
  • I've been playing Tiny Tina's Wonderlands. It's a fun, fantastical take on the Borderlands formula. It's got the improved gunplay of 3 and a better story but from what I've heard the end game is lacking compared to 3 and especially 2.

  • (Linux users !) What was the first Linux distro that you used ?
  • I first tried Ubuntu because it was the only one I knew of besides arch and I heard that arch was hard. I hated Ubuntu immediately and started distro hopping. I'm on Debian 12 now and it's the longest I've been on a single distro.

  • Linux game torrenting
  • I've run both fitgirl and dodi windows repacks on Linux, it's easy. Install protonUp-Qt and add proton-ge. Add the package installer to steam and run with proton-ge. Then run the game .exe with proton-ge once installed. If the game needs any dependencies add them using proton tricks. Also if you're running the game installer on a steam deck make sure you press the limit to 2gb of ram option.

If you're downloading games on 1337x go with Dodi and Fitgirl. They are the most reliable options. Their original sites are the best choice tho.

I'm playing through Far Cry 6, Hogwarts Legacy and Tiny Tina's Wonderlands on the Deck from repacks rn and I'm having no issues.
