  • There's a woman I haven't met in person but I have to send emails to about once a month to ask for something only her group can do

One time I did something like "could you help us get xxx report from your system by CoB? 😅 " and she replied that emojis could have a hidden meaning and are not professional and I should not use them in emails

Next time after she helped me I went to the greetings system we use and send her a public card for gratitute or team work with some gif of cute cats hugging. I think everyone had a similar experience with her because a lot of people liked the post and then they started doing the same

The worst part is that we have the option to give away points in the system that can be redeemed for gift cards but I've never seen anyone give her points, only cute gifs

  • Our performance was so great last year that the performance bonus will be 50% higher than usual. Meanwhile the company will reduce the headcount by 5-10% and they just announced that they will remove the free coffee to save costs...

  • That reminds me of 2015 when there was a big flood in Chennai. We were working on a project and the software team was located there. When the floods happened we didn't hear anything from them for a few days. A middle manager sent a very angry email to them complaining that we would not be able to make the milestones if they didn't work during that time and he actually asked us to send an email every few hours asking for updates (we all ignored the order except for one guy)

Thankfully upper management and the CEO office knew better and sent a support email to them and I believe they reprimanded the other manager.

After a few days we learned that some employees actually lost their lives and the office itself was affected and they're were not able to return to work for a few weeks

  • My sister works in customs for a company in Mexico and they are definitely paying tariffs. They need to get a certificate for stuff that is covered under USMECA and iron parts pay 25% on top of any other tariffs. They have an office close to the border that checks which tariffs are in effect at that time because the official publication can't keep up

  • This is probably "newly" enforced but if they fly they should automatically receive an I-94 at immigration and I'd they enter by car they need to specify to the agent that that are staying more than 30 days or travelling more than ~50 miles from the border (I'm not sure about the distance) and apply for an I-94 at the border crossing, it's the same rule for Mexicans, the difference is that the South border has checkpoints where you can't cross with a visa without an I-94

Many who fly would have already received the required I-94 form, and they don't have to register if they've previously submitted it. Most driving to the U.S. aren't handed an I-94

  • it's because most larger concert halls in the USA and the ticket service they use online are owned by the most evil fucking corporation and I am fucking sick of it.

Do you realize AXS is not Ticketmaster/Live Nation?

I'm not defending them but they are different corporations
