Anyone buying a Floatwheel?
  • It is a copy of a onewheel :) but fully customizable, as powerful as a onewheel GT S for half the price, and supports right to repair (each part is replaceable).

Futuremotion has tried to sue Floatwheel, but all they get is a middle finger. Floatwheel has no central location, and they only accept cryptocurrency. Patents can get fucked. They can't be sued. I think that's so cool that it's half the reason I bought it.

  • EUC riders, what EUC do you have? What are you getting next?
  • Yeah sorry, I meant that as two separate thoughts. I was saying that while that wheel size isn't for me personally the Patton is still a solid wheel in the commander mini size

But the mini is a great price on eucdeals too

  • Agreed, it's pretty dangerous, I just love it. I love that I can go anywhere and easily hop up and down curbs.

One of the best features for me is that I can ride on the sidewalk when the bike lane is sketchy, and if there is a pedestrian then I can easily hop off the curb back into the bike lane.

I also love bringing it in cafes and stores without having to lock it up. It feels almost like a skateboard, functionally. I hate having to park and lock my other PEVs.

kingsong s18 for me, and next is definitely a bigger wheel, probably either a V13 or an EX30. I want more speed for roads.

I might just get a motorcycle though, or a fast ebike.

Best water resistant scooter for a short person?

I love my ninebot g2 but it's too tall for my friend. Would you recommend the original ninebot max or something else?

  • About acceleration: you're 100% right. I can easily overpower my current wheel by overleaning it. But the more power a wheel has, the harder it is to overpower it and fall forwards.

Wheels don't actually have a "top speed" (technically they do but it's impossible to hit), they just have different power. The more power, the safer they are and the faster they can accelerate and the better they can balance. A heavy rider may cut out at 22mph, but a 100lb rider might cut out at 30+.

A heavy rider may faceplant when simply accelerating slightly too fast up a hill too, even at 5mph.

Also, onewheel GTs can easily hit 22 today, and even faster for light riders. People just don't like to ride that fast usually.

  • More practical is debatable. I have a gaggle of PEVs and a bike and I tend to favor my EUC due to not needing to lock it up when I go places.

Still, it is spendy! No argument there

  • You don't have to ride at the top speed. My car tops out over 160mph but I drive the speed limit.

Having more motor power just means less chance of a nosedive at any speed.

Why not just ride it at jogging speed?

  • Definitely by 2030 probably

(I've been hearing that they're coming very soon for several years)

Maybe if the devs worked with the community more then we could get them, but they don't seem to accept PRs from folks outside their core team anymore (please correct me if I'm wrong)

How do you deal with rain?

What gear and what PEV do you use in the rain?

Rainy season just started hitting here in Portland and I'm riding a G2 ninebot because I'm not comfortable with the water proofing on the S18 monowheel

Day 3 kingsong S18 unicycle review

I picked this up a few days ago after my V11 died (fried mosfet or fuse when doing a tiny hop up a curb) because it seemed a lot more durable in performance testing videos.

I've already crashed it once when coming up to an intersection curb too fast, with no damage to me or the S18. And I've already tried hopping a bigger curb than what killed the V11. So far so good. I've also dropped it a few times while practicing riding backwards.

However, the "feel" of it is inferior to the V11 in pretty much every way except for suspension, although the 10lb weight reduction is nice when carrying it up stairs.

I've put about 40 miles on it so far, and I'm finding it more "snappy" than the V11 but less "tight". It rattles and gets speed wobbles a lot easier.

Overall I'm happy with my purchase but I do miss my V11.

I think my next purchase in a year or so will be the V22 Pro, once it's on the final batch and the remaining kinks are worked out (water proofing and suspension slider/roller issues).

Oh and the inmotion app was way better.

    S18: 5/5 durability, 3/5 ride feel V11: 0/5 durability, 5/5 ride feel

My first week of EUC riding (V11 died! Bought an S18!)

So I bought a V11 during the prime day sale for $1600, which I still think is a great deal. However I learned the hard way that you can't push that wheel in "fancy" mode. I tried to ride up a roughly 4 inch high curb at walking speed, and it fried a mosfet. Fully dead, can only get power to connect to the app while plugged in. It has rolling resistance, which means fried mosfet.

I returned it to amazon, no questions asked, easy-peasy.

If you have a V11, DO NOT USE "FANCIER MODE" (which lets you pull more power and hit 34mph), unless you want to fry your device. If you don't believe me, youtube "overheat hill V11" to see how fragile this thing is.

So I put a bid on a craiglist brand new S18 and after watching lots of videos on it (including overheat hill) I'm convinced the wheel will cut out before it allows damage to come to the control board.

This setback hasn't deterred me at all. EUC riding is the most fun thing ever, and I cannot wait till I pick up my S18 tomorrow.
