What kinds of group activities can I organize that would be friendly for people with autism?
  • My go to activities are:

    1. Getting out on nature, running water is a big plus, hiking, kayaking, etc.

    2. Board/party games have improved a ton over the last 20 years. Some simple fun games that take a minute or less to teach: telestrations, just one, banagrams

    3. D&D or other role playing, this is a really easy way to engage in social interaction that is lower pressure (at least for me) and fun.

  • Microsoft and Epic Games Sued Over Video Game Addiction
  • That doesn't mean that we shouldn't regulate predatory practices. Many video games are built on social media and gambling models designed with intentionally addictive features. In not talking about fun features, I'm talking about addictive features. There are panels at game designer conferences you can listen to about this stuff.

  • Mozilla tells extension developers to get ready to go mobile • The Register
  • I replaced the YouTube app on my SO's phone with a Brave Browser YouTube link (Brave includes both features out of the box) because having to sit through ads when they wanted to show me a video was driving me nuts...

I use Firefox because of tamper monkey, buy Brave is my go to easy solution for friends so I don't have to explain about installing extras.

    Big Mistake
  • All of my social activities involve quiet rooms and less than 10 people. Although I will say that if the crowd gets big enough then the white noise all the talking creates can be calming. Unfortunately the hundreds of people bumping into you kinda ruins the whole thing.

  • Talking while performing another task is quite challenging. Do you feel similarly?
  • My SO hates driving, so I drive us everywhere, they also love conversing. I keep trying to explain why this isn't compatible... at least now they keep track of where we are more often and let me know when I'm going to miss my turn. I won't talk and drive without my ADHD meds though, way to dangerous...

  • is there a point to an adult diagnosis?
  • I'm right there with you. Going through all of it right now. I have been considering getting an official diagnosis, but I'm 100% sure I'm on the spectrum, so I'm not sure if there is a point.

  • What's the general view of CBT?
  • Yes! It can be very effective for certain things and for certain people. It's much more useful for those of us with ADHD. It's helpful for retraining things like imposter syndrome, self- loathing, anxiety, etc.

Personally I have found FasterEFT is more helpful since it's a quick in the moment fix and can be learned in a few minutes, but it does require self awareness. Meditation helps there and both seem easier and more useful to me.

  • [Woj] BREAKING: The Portland Trail Blazers are trading guard Damian Lillard to the Milwaukee Bucks, sources tell ESPN.
  • So there are changes to the CBA that will come into affect that make the trade make more sense. Their trade options become more limited moving forward and splitting Aytons deal now will let them pickup someone at the trade deadline. Waiting could have meant that trading him would be impractical if not impossible, and if the off court issues got bad enough that coaches wanted to bench him they couldn't really afford to.

That said this is insanely low value for him. I can't believe there wasn't a team willing to give up anything decent for him, but I can't imagine doing this deal without exhausting other options.

Hopefully you guys can figure out a way to get a few more quality role players on the team.

  • What Are Some Good Card Videogames?
  • Card Hunter is an excellent trpg/ deck builder that has card based actions. Excellent single player with multilayer options that I haven't explored much because I generally need to be able to pause for extended periods, but it seems solid enough (no idea if there is an active community though).

You can pay to skip ahead, but I had a great time never paying for anything. Probably put 100 hrs plus in.

  • Reddit is removing ability to opt out of ad personalization based on your activity on the platform
  • This is the message they are sending to users:

    Hey u/username,

We will soon begin rolling out changes to Reddit's User settings. It is getting a refresh that includes changes to ad personalization, privacy preferences, and location settings.

As part of these changes, we are retiring a setting that you have previously turned on that limited how we used your activity from the Reddit platform to personalize ads. We have replaced the setting with a new option to select categories of ads that you may not wish to see.

More details are available in our announcement and help center.

These changes are rolling out starting today and you may see the changes over the next few days.
