Redstone family business that controls 80% of Paramount's voting power...
That and the red clothes are giving me a fire lord vibe, lol.
The article is a very fast read because it's Axios, but in a nutshell, either:
-
Skydance gets Paramount intact, but possibly with financial trouble and selling some IP.
-
Sony gets Paramount, but restructures the company and also possibly sells some parts.
-
Nothing happens... and Paramount continues its downward spiral, probably accelerated by a failed sale.
The can of worms opened today, as now Paramount is officially open to a buyout from sony.
I don't like this at all. Avatar is a high budget IP, animesque fantasy, and not historically, proveably profitable like Star Trek/Spongebob. Avatar Studios is a real candidate to be chopped off.
Speaking as a Floridian/Southerner and an AI worker... it is almost certainly not, lol.
AAAAAAHHHHHHH!
There. I got a pretty good look at you.
Yeah I didn't like the comics either. The LoK comics are spotty too.
The novels are good though, read those instead. Honestly, fanfics are better than the comics too, especially if you just want more of specific strorylines. And I loved LoK itself.
Nah it's just syndicated across other sources (namely Reddit).
About 90 participants so far.
My reddit posts weren't upvoted much either though. There were a lot of people browsing /new that filled out the poll, but (I guess) didn't like the post enough to upvote it.
I personally watch:
-
Blu ray rips (and I've been meaning to transcode/filter ATLA to clean it up).
-
An old 4K, not-really-hdr TV.
-
Analog headphones.
As the title says. This includes any visual media, including all 7 Books and other stuff.
What kind screen do you watch it on? What sound setup? What source?

I'm asking this because:
A: I'm curious how this fandom generally consumes the shows
B: I theorize this may have an impact on the experience. Avatar is an audiovisual feast, and I find I get caught up in the art/music more than many viewers seem to. LoK in particular is like a totally different show with high-bitrate HD vs. a bad stream.
I saw a ton of criticism of this elsewhere, but people are looking back at the original Kyoshi scenes with way too much nostalgia.
Yeah, I just want more content too, and we are (eventually) getting it. And yeah, so much is so special, I could go on and on.
However, in my last rewatch I actually found myself skipping quite a few episodes, specifically around B1 and the beginning of B2 and B3. I don't want to harp on the issues much either, but theres some slowness. immaturity, and a few annoyances that get overlooked because fans think its "perfect," and then they dig out very similar annoyances from NATLA (even if it has more fundamental issues).
And the nostalgia is exactly what I'm talking about. People get too hooked into ATLA, and it sours the rest of the franchise. NATLA should mostly be judged on its own merits, not as a comparison.
This is desperately needed
Its staying power is really annoying TBH.
I guess it could be worse (AKA everyone just going to Discord instead).
I don't totally disagree.
But I don't like the general community attitude of putting the original on such a pedestal. It has plenty of problems, especially in Book 1.
ATLA superfans are going to hate every new Avatar entry other than the Gaang movie if it keeps up.
To expand on the other comments, Viacom punted the live action to Netflix to produce forever ago. They didn't care less about the IP.
Then they realized Avatar was one of their golden IPs, and now they have a whole slate of animated content in planning/production.
IMO it only really matters for Zuko, who is very distinctive/raspy and was already in puberty in ATLA. And thats who they brought back.
The rest... doesn't really matter. They should all sound different as adults anyway, so mind as well recast.
FYI people are freaking out because this is a meme in the Avatar community, lol.
You don't see nearly as much fandom behind the James Cameron Avatar TBH.
I don't like changing showrunners. It doesn't speak to things being stable behind the scenes.
But maybe it will be an improvement?
I think critics are being a bit dramatic. ATLA Book 1 had bumps and slow episodes, and some very similar flaws people pave over looking back (like Sokka being a chick magnet).
I mean... there are much better halo fanfics
It's amazing how a huge fandom has so completely shut out a big entry.
...Hypothetically. Not that there is any movie.
I don't even like LoL, but Arcane is great.
Same with dota: dragon's blood
For me its the opposite, Linux always boots fine but occasionally a linux system update will break the Windows boot option in systemd-boot
