  • Star Wars despecialized edition.

In 1997 George Lucas updated the original trilogy with new special effects, and every release since then has been the new special edition.

Fans have gone through a painstaking archival effort to track down the "despecialized" original release in as high quality as possible.

  • It's not uncommon to speed, drink drive, etc, that doesn't mean those things are right. There's all sorts of obstacles that might end up on a regular road that you should be able to stop for. Fallen rocks, fallen trees, pedestrians, cyclists, parked cars, traffic tailbacks.

And remember, the bridge did have warnings, which happened to be removed by vandals. That's not the city's fault.

  • Browsers themselves are easy to make.

What makes you say this? There are only 2 fully featured browsers, Chromium and Firefox. Anything else isn't a viable alternative even if we compare stock to stock.

  • That's always been the way with Apple. If you fit into the 0.1% of users that can make use of their products, it's good value. If you don't, it's bad value and so locked down there's nothing you can do about it. Most people don't need what Apple is offering, yet buy it anyway. That's the part I don't get.

  • I agree in perfect conditions, but paddleboards are completely impractical as transport. I once got blown out to sea by unexpected high winds while on a paddleboard and I was lucky there was a boat going past to pick me up. Kayaks on the other hand can handle rough seas and carry many days of food.

  • Hundreds of miles? I've walked/run hundreds of miles on my ~$10usd shoes and they're still holding together. I would expect a expensive pair to manage thousands or ten-thousands of miles.

  • As I said, I completely agree that changing the shape of the road is an important component of this solution.

Yes, I am asking the operators of deadly heavy machinery to put in a small amount of conscious effort to keep people safe. Why is that an impossible request?

  • But similarly, human behavior can be trained. We aren't NPCs. These bad drivers could be taught to drive at a safe speed regardless of the width of the street, through stricter education and enforcement. Pedestrians/cyclists/homes/businesses around the street -> drive slow, that should be an instinct.
