Guidance for clearing data prior to de-googling?
  • I think they provide tools to do this. You can do google takeout, then set your privacy settings to delete after X amount of time. We can hold good faith that they do so? Other than that, i guess you can contact them?

  • Better torrent client for MacOS Sonoma?
  • Honestly, what i do is install docker using brew and spin up a saltbox instance on localhost. You can always bring it down by telling docker to stop but it's way better and it's containerized.

edit: let me know if you need help.

  • Wendy’s says it won’t use surge pricing | CNN Business
  • Right, that's what I was thinking. They need to fire their marketing company, because almost certainly it's tied to inventory and expiry dates. That's why at the restaurant I work at, our family meal is always something bizarre. Like last night it was pasta with a bachemel, grilled potato cubes, and fried chicken...... All mixed together. 😫

  • Microsoft stole my Chrome tabs, and it wants yours, too
  • That's better than me. I ran a security script that i.. laugh and roll my eyes at myself about in a bad way, like i deserved what i got. I didn't read the script...

So i restarted the system. Since i used an online Microsoft account to create the local user, and i didn't read the script, the only account, and admin at that, was disabled. I couldn't sign in AT ALL. Lol

I formatted the whole system and installed Fedora Plasma. I'm a Fedora fan. It's what we use in a corporate environment (rhel) and it's what i learned on.

TL;DR: Windows sucks. Linux is great and ProtonDB for those games you miss.

  • I got offered a Stage. Need advice

So I'm pivoting away from tech, which makes money but I find incredibly soul sucking, into service. There's a super delicious, slightly upscale ramen joint right next to my apartment building. I saw they posted something on poached looking for line cooks. I took in my resume and told the guy my story and he offered me a stage. I'm super excited, nervous, and scared, but in a good way.

I feel honored and humbled. He told me to wear black, wear restaurant shoes and bring my knife. I have a week. (Oh by the way i got laid off from EA).

So I intend on getting a victorinox knife and damn, figuring it out. (My current knife is really uncomfortable and i just moved in with my partner who's a FOH manager at a local seafood place). I cook a lot and love it, love this place and specialize in asian cooking. I've worked in a kitchen before but it's been 13 years.

Anyway a long story long, anyone have any advice?

Also mods, if this is the wrong place for this, please delete it. I looked but didn't find another place.

Update: i got the job! They had me do lots of prep, green onions, white onions, arugula, trained me on the line. It was only 4 hours then the Chef offered me the job! Woohoo! He said my knife cuts were nice! Lol

Edit: i hate the job. I went down to 2 days and got a new job. The people i work with are unprofessional and think they are the shit. It's annoying. Lol NEXT
