  • This community was made because I didn’t see an Amiga community on #Lemmy, so I thought, “Hey, why not make one?”

But I chose to make it on #Piefed instead because Piefed seems to have better moderation options than other federated Reddit-like software.

    I’m looking forward to this!

I created a new Commodore Amiga community on piefed.social

  • I should also mention that this game is available on GOG for the same price:

    https://www.gog.com/en/game/cabernet

  • A survival horror that's controlled entirely by typing on a keyboard. Online co-op is available. No reviews yet but I like the premise. Might be playable on a Steam Deck if you connect it to a keyboard. Demo is available for you to try before you buy. Also, the dev is broadcasting his playthrough right now.

    NEW RELEASE - Blood Typers

  • This is a remake of Doors of Insanity, released in 2021 -- but has since been de-listed. Yes, it's a card battler. However, it's one you can play on your Steam Deck or with a gamepad. No reviews yet, but this is published by Neon Doctrine, who also brought us Count Lucanor and Devilated.

NEW RELEASE - Doors of Insanity: ReOpened

  • Basically, this is a 2D vampire-themed narrative RPG with a fun art style, great voice acting, and strong lesbian subtext. The soundtrack sounds amazing, and you can buy it as DLC. This game supports both Xbox and DualShock gamepads. So far, both critics and gamers love this game. A demo is also available, so it's worth trying before buying.

It's also important to acknowledge the dev is a woman.

    NEW RELEASE - Cabernet

  • Okay, but do so-called "gamers" actually care about video games? Because most of the time, I don't see them talking about actual video games that they enjoy.

  • I'm on the fence with this one because the early access reviews are mixed. However, it's a metroidvania with a fun art style and music is enjoyable. It's also nice you can play this with a gamepad. It also looks like this is the dev's first game.

NEW RELEASE - Cosmic: A Journey Among Shadows

  • I play my Steam Deck more than my living room tower, which has a 3090. When it's time to upgrade again, I think I'll just get a Steam Deck 2 and dock it to my TV.

  • Microsoft also has the benefit of owning Windows.

Personally, I just just hook up my PC to my TV, run Steam in Big Picture mode, and it gives me a console experience. Not a perfect console experience, mind you, but good enough for me.

  • I remember gaming in the 80s and 90s, and four-year-old games were regarded as ancient. Times have really changed.

  • Gaming is quite critical for any tech company because it validates technology. If not for gaming, AI wouldn't even have hype.

  • I enjoy the Like a Dragon series quite a lot, and this iteration seems like the whackiest one of the bunch. The graphics are really colourful here. This is Steam Deck verified, and playable with both Xbox and DualShock gamepads. Lots of DLC available, but they're mostly just outfits and ship customizations. You can get an extra karaoke and CD pack for C$5.99. So far, this has been reviewed quite well. The system requirements imply that you need a new-ish PC to play this, but I regard that with a heaping tablespoon of salt since, again, this works on a Steam Deck.

NEW RELEASE - Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii

  • According to the Steam page, DualShock only works via USB.

  • This one I'm really excited about because it's re-make of the classic Amiga game X-Out, made by the legendary Rainbow Arts. This release preserves the art style of the original while delivering several enhancements, such as lighting effects. And it still has a soundtrack by Chris Huelsbeck. You can play this with a gamepad, and there's local co-op.

    NEW RELEASE - X-Out: Resurfaced

  • I don't know. Spending hundreds of millions of dollars, then discontinuing the game after eight days -- I've never seen that before.

  • Fun premise, good reviews, and attractive visuals for what they are. Both online and local PvP, and the multiplayer is cross-platform too. It's also nice that both Xbox and Dualshock gamepads are supported. Low spec requirements -- you should be able to play this on a potato.

    NEW RELEASE: Cascadia

  • Fun story, cute bunnies, and this has good reviews. Local co-op is available, and you can play this with a gamepad.

    NEW RELEASE: Cinnabunny

  • This one has a cool premise, and it has good reviews too. It's also silly and doesn't take itself seriously. Inexpensive too.
