What's science fiction without the machines?
  • I read a cool short story a few years ago that really embraced that quote. It started out as a fantasy story with wizards doing magic. It then turns out that magic is actually old nano machines or something, but society has forgotten all about the science behind them.

What book(s) are you currently reading or listening? October 29
  • Oh man, I finished that series last year. Definitely some incredible parts, but it also drags a bit at the end. It finished with like 2000 pages of matching through a desert which was rough, but by that point you've read enough that you can't stop.

Younger audience is a crazy critique though, I can't say I ever though that.

  • ‘They will vote against Harris’: Arab Americans in Michigan desert Democrats over Gaza
  • In this case your entire argument about the election is moot. If I vote for a president, their actions are not mine, I am not going to Gaza to kill Palestinians. You can even go a step further, neither Harris nor trump is personally going to Gaza to kill people. The choice of killing Palestinians is up to the Israeli people who are doing the actual killing.

  • Pray for me lads, Imma about to rawdog this without back ups
  • You should always run a full upgrade when installing a new package to make sure your versions are all in sync. Like if your new package is looking for version 1.1 and you have 1.0 installed, the new package won't work. In general, everything should be installed with 'pacman -Syu' not just 'pacman -S'

If you don't install any new packages, then no you don't need to upgrade anything. You're just missing out on security patches and upgraded features. It's worth running occasional upgrades.
