Continue watching AppleTV
  • I agree. I feel like this must not be a product that anyone that makes decisions at Apple actually uses. I imagine there’s a big part of they get and have access to everything for free that they don’t ever come across these issues themselves.

  • Continue watching AppleTV

This is driving me nuts. My wife and I are watching The Office. I’ve purchased the whole series through Apple. Every once in a while I go in to continue watching and rather than just playing it from the only place I’ve ever watched it it instead decides to open it in the Peacock app. I’ve never watched The Office in the Peacock app. Then to continue I have to find it in my library and scroll to the episode I’m watching.

    Anyone else have this issue?

    Buttermilk biscuits

Made these the other day for some biscuits and gravy. Forgot to take a picture but they are incredibly delicious.

    Buttermilk Biscuits

Ingredients: 2 Cup flour 2 teaspoon baking powder ¼ teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon granulated sugar ½ teaspoon salt ½ cup butter 1 cup buttermilk

Directions: Preheat oven to 400° fahrenheit. Conbine the flour, baking powder, soda, sugar, and salt in a bowl. Cut in the butter. Add buttermilk until a nice dough forms (may not be all of it). Roll out and cut biscuits. Bake fir 10-15 minutes or until golden brown.

App or service to self host ebooks?

Does anyone know of a self hosting option for hosting ebooks? I keep hoping there is an open source library type app where I could add my ebooks and host them for myself and others.

    Messages “Other” category cleaning

Does anyone know a way to get rid of the “Other” category in the messages app? I click on the item and nothing populates. There is no way to see what is there or to take any action. iOS 16.6.

What are you playing this weekend? 2023-07-29
  • I haven’t finished yet so I don’t know how far along (in terms of percentage). My goal before finishing is completing all the shrines, light roots and as many quests as I have picked up along the way. After that I’ll likely finish the game and then look up the side quests I haven’t done yet.

So far I’ve played for 145 hours and completed 142 shrines.

Finding communities and what else can I do here
  • Ah. I don’t know if this helps, but you can see all the communities for a given server and search. It’s hard to know what to search for sometimes, but for the most part it should have relevant keywords. I think you can also search All which will sow results from all fediverse instances.

Finding communities and what else can I do here
  • From what I understand in how federation works, you shouldn’t need to join any other communities as they will all show up here. If you go to the All tab (rather than local or subscribed) you should see a ton of other stuff coming in. Then you should be able to subscribe, block or just ignore things. Once you have subscribed to quite a few communities then the subscribed becomes more useful to keep up on the things you are really interested in.

  • Coconut Bread

I haven't made this in a while so don't have a picture of it handy, but it's one of my favorite recipes for sweet bread. I'd make it almost weekly if the family liked coconut. As it stands it wouldn't be healthy for me as the only one that eats it...

    Coconut Bread

    Ingredients: Coconut Bread:

4 Eggs 1 Cup Vegetable Oil 2 Cups Sugar 1 Cup Buttermilk 1 teas. Coconut Extract 3 Cups Flour 1/2 teas. Baking Soda 1/2 teas. Baking Powder 1/2 teas. Salt 1 Cup Coconut

    Syrup:

1 Cup Sugar 2 Tablespoons Butter 1/2 Cup Water

Directions: Preheat oven to 325°F. Grease 2 bread pans with butter. Mix all the dry ingredients except for the coconut together and whisk. Mix all the wet ingredients together. Add the dry to the wet and mix until it just starts to come together. Add coconut. Bake at 325°F for 1 hour. About 10 minutes before the bread is done start mixing together the syrup. Add all the ingredients to a small sauce pan and stir constantly till boiling. Turn down heat, but keep it at a boil. Boil for 5 minutes. After removing the bread from the oven take a knife and run it along the edges of the bread. Pour syrup over the top of each loaf when you remove from oven and allow to cool in pans (or don’t, your choice).

    My favorite pancake recipe

I make this recipe once a week for my girls. I usually double the dry mix and store it in a large container then just mix up the wet and add to the dry. Makes it almost as easy as making from a mix, but infinitely better.

    Pancakes

Ingredients: Dry Mix 3 1/2 cup flour ¼ cup sugar 4 teaspoon baking powder 2 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon salt

Wet 1 egg 1 tablespoon melted butter 1 cup buttermilk ¼ teaspoon vanilla

Directions: Make dry mix and store in large Tupperware till you are ready to make fresh pancakes. Take 1 cup of dry mix and add to a large bowl. Mix wet ingredients together until uniform in texture and color. Add to dry. Mix till relatively smooth. Doesn’t need to be perfectly smooth. Let sit for 5-8 minutes. Cook on medium grill or pan.

Best/least expensive GPU/setup for running Plex

I’m looking to move from a Synology NAS with Plex to get something dedicated that is more powerful/can do more transcoding streams at once.

What is everyone using and how many streams can you transcode at once?

Any changes to mail app behavior?

The one thing that drives me crazy with the built in mail app is that if you delete a message it takes you to the next rather than taking you back to the inbox. Been hoping for this option forever.
