I do that too, but I try to somehow end up at "we could all die".
I agree in principle, but the software speaking to you is kinda the whole point of an LLM.
I'd say it's because the people responsible for the UX are shitheads, but sure, I guess.
I mean, those models are overconfident all the time. They could at least go "This conversation is over", all Sovereign like.
Regardless of whether that's true, it doesn't make sense as a reason. "Our customers have less reading comprehension, that's why we make our UX less clear."
I find this "playful" UX design that seems to be en vogue incredibly annoying. If your model has ended the conversation, just say that. Don't say it might be time to move on, if there isn't another option.
I don't want my software to address me as if I were a child.
but I don't see why a one plus should be any better than Xiaomi
It likely isn't. I just got it very cheap some years back, and don't see a good reason to replace it while it still works.
a random ROM with possible unknown interference should be safer/better regarding privacy
You could always have bad actors, of course, but these Roms tend to be mostly open source community projects, so the incentive structure leading to bad behaviour seems less clear to me, and such behaviour would theoretically be more detectable (how much anyone actually audits the code in practice is another question, of course.) In the end, running any Software you haven't written yourself involves a certain amount of trust.
That does make sense, I guess. I forget that most people aren't hardcore privacy nuts sometimes. I'm currently on a OnePlus with a custom rom, which'll probably be good for a few more years, but the only new phone I'd consider at the moment would be a pixel with Graphene.
I get people buying cheap Xiaomi phones because they can't afford a more expensive phone. I kinda don't get why people buy expensive Xiaomi phones.
Because telling them "I'm not allowed to answer that question." isn't going to make them look it up themselves anyway. I mean, you could lie to them, but I can't imagine that being a popular policy.
Even if the sentiment behind this wasn't so horrid, this'd still be stupid.
Considering I have been called "overly stoic", "unsentimental", and "unemotional" by romantic partners, and my therapist tells me it isn't healthy to bottle up my emotions, I may just have seen myself somewhere in there.
If you wanna court the laptop oem market, windows is the safer bet.
Depending on how in-depth they co-operated with the windows for arm team, keeping some details confidential till launch might have also been easier that way.
I think young me had a crush on both her and Data when I first watched TNG. I guess I was really into yellow?
If they have such a scenario in their head, they could probably type it out already, without any AI help.
I don't really see the harm in that, if someone wants to erp an ai, they'll find a way. If I remember correctly, OpenAI already isn't all that rigorous with banning people who break the ToS in that way.
There's definitely valid stuff in there, but I feel like you should always keep in mind that subverting these can also be an option.
Also, while I love good world building, I wouldn't really trust Ms. Rowling's advice on this. Not because of her other bullshit opinions, but because she's well known for throwing in stuff, and then not keeping track of it, or not thinking through the consequences.
Haven't read into this too much, but I think the affected person that made this get attention was a solo dev that was prototyping a solution for one of his customers.
And the reason he raised a stink was because he had a huge bill, as the name he chose for his bucket was by chance the same an open source project used as a sample bucket name, so whenever someone deployed it without first customising the config, it was pinging his bucket and getting a 403.
Yeah, but the article itself uses a downsized version of the image. Actually being able to see a lot more detail when opening the full size one is nice.
Edit: Seems to be working again. Thanks to whomever thanks are due.
When trying in the app I use, Sync for Lemmy, I get a generic error message after a bit.
Thought it might be app related so I tried on the Web version, at lemmy.blahaj.zone, where I get the following error message:
{"data":{"error":"unknown","message":"Request error: error sending request for url (http://pict-rs:8182/image): operation timed out"},"state":"success"}
