  • The first thing that caught me was the radioactive symbol at the center, because my brain immediately went to "Oh good! We're de-carbonizing the electrical grid and supporting transgender rights! How progressive."

  • Just block it in Europe already.

The Brazil Government did this for a week and immediately extracted big concessions from Elon. Really curious to see the EU so reluctant to employ a tried-and-true tactic... assuming you believe these governments are adversarial to American plutocrats.

  • EU just rolled over on trade with US.

Controlled Opposition. The plutocrats in Europe and the plutocrats in America have been working hand-in-glove for over a century. This is no different than the German government "rolling over" for IBM and Ford and Coca-Cola in the 1930s.

  • VoA is competing with the private sector propaganda wing.

This is just American Libertarianism taken to its logical conclusion. The mistake the Communists made was thinking Pravda didn't need to turn an enormous profit.

  • If you have a monopoly on the process, then its the same as the DeBeers Diamond Cartel. You can keep the price up by limiting the sale and spending a ton of money on marketing.

  • The very approach to calculating "profit" is backwards.

We're not measuring the economic value ad of the lane of transit. We're measuring the margin between cost of the lane and the immediate rent produced.

Concepts like "hours lost in transit" or "physical harm from accidents" goes entirely out the window. Negative externalities are never measured by capitalist economics.

  • Unironically what a bunch of red states have been doing, while blaming rural decline on large liberal municipalities.

  • large majority of their limes are unprofitable

Waiting to hear this about the NYC MTA once Mamdani zeros out fares.

  • My brother and his husband, both openly gay, stated to me just the other day that in their youth they prayed they were not gay and even shamed themselves for having homoerotic thoughts.

A public figure saying he's ashamed to be gay during a national debate definitely reinforces the sense of shame and thoughts of self-harm.

  • China’s shitty government that commits genocide

It's so crazy to live in a country where it's illegal to call Palestine a genocide and mandatory to call China one.

  • Gen X would have had to program everything themselves at one point

It wasn't everyone in the entire generational cohort working from first principles to build a massive network. You're describing a tiny fraction of the modern tech sector doing work that was far more electrical than comp sci within a sector that was primarily academic and heavy industrial.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Gen X cohort was still learning to use slide rules and practice pre-Excel accounting standards, when they weren't just... pouring concrete or welding car parts or cleaning out chemical drums with pressure hoses.

You're describing a career path that was in the low hundred thousands back in the 1990s, which has swelled to the millions in the 2020s. And even then, we're talking about a workforce in the hundreds of millions. The vast majority of Americans have never been techies and never will be.

  • This is probably a great time to invest in these businesses.

Palantir is already at a 600 p/e. Similar AI / Data security companies have valuations in the hundreds. The whole tech sector is a bloated pustule waiting for revenue growth that's beyond speculative. You're going fishing in a shark tank.

    Invest at your own risk.

  • Being a sexual minority fucks you up in any scenario, it’s just how the fucked upedness plays out at that level.

In my experience, the gay community (at least - the gay male community in Houston that I'm familiar with) is this incredibly tight knit and supportive group of sincere and loving people. The adversity brought this minority group together and bound them into a network of mutual aid and compassion for one another that's so far removed from anything I see among straight peers.

As a good old fashioned working class male homo who can pass as prosperous due to education and natural perspicuity, I have broad experience seeing how class fucks up gay men specifically.

It's one more wedge issue used by the ruling class to divide and conquer.

  • If Clinton isn't on the list, it's only because he cut a deal to keep it off.

  • A lot more than one, I'm sure. Willing to be a lot of money traded hands between a lot of middle men before those 100 names were finalized.

  • No no no. They're the good guys this time, we promise
