We're all a little crazy
  • Trigger warning: explaining jokes in way too much detail.

The phrasing is a reference to the "Is this a pigeon?" meme (see: https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/is-this-a-pigeon ). This is meant to indicate that this is clearly not egg_irl, but the topic of the original post seemed like something repressed trans people can relate to in hindsight. It reminded me of a common pattern among eggs where there's a vague but insistent internal voice (not literally a voice, more like an occasional impulse) telling you to do things that you associate with your actual gender, rather than your assigned gender, with varying effects depending on the person. For example, it generally made me feel uncomfortable without understanding why, leading me to assume I simply didn't like those things, when in fact that was more or less the opposite of the truth.

Anyway, these sorts of things can make the idea of an unknown, voiceless, internal personality separate from your surface-level persona resonate with trans people. Add the fact that when you're deeply involved in gender issues and transitioning, it's so much on your mind that there's a tendency to interpret everything as being somehow related to gender even when it isn't, and it seemed like a good fit for the pigeon meme.

  • It's always sloppy after the bars close
  • It's basically meat sauce between burger buns. I haven't had one in ages, but they would make frequent appearances in grade school cafeterias and other events involving large amounts of children needing to be fed with low effort. I remember quite liking them; it's basic, but great comfort food, and easy to eat.

  • Pardon me for not finding “vulnerable people need to die for my ideology” very convincing.
  • You don't have to vote for Biden. In the primaries, vote for whoever you actually like. In the general, vote for the Democrats' candidate (however flawed they may be). In neither case are you obligated to frame it as voting for Biden as an individual.

  • What thoughts/memories did you have before coming out, in hindsight, are big signs you were trans?
  • Probably the biggest one for me was always feeling discomfort when being referred to or referring to myself as a "man". I didn't have any problem with words like "male", "guy", "dude", "lad", "boy", "fella", etc., but "man" was just one step too far, apparently.

Always figured it was just a reaction to my strong distaste for toxic masculinity, and/or a reluctance to grow up. With hindsight, it seems silly that it wasn't a dead giveaway.

  • Rebase Supremacy
  • You can do all that without force push. Just make a new branch and do the cleanup before the first push there. Allowing force push just invites disaster from junior developers who don't know what they're doing. If you want to clean up after them, that's your business, I guess.

  • I saw a recent post that 60% of playtime in 2023 was spent on games 6 years or older. What 6+ year old games are you playing?
  • Just recently I started replaying “VA-11 Hall-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action”. I'm also working on Rune Factory 4 Special - the remake is only 4 years old, but the original is from 2012. I still periodically fire up Castle Crashers from time to time, and I have yet to give up on my much-procrastinated attempt at Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (the Xbox 360 version).

There are many others, but that's just off the top of my head.

  • Any cozy game recommendations?
  • Update: I was right, it's cozy as fuck.

Also, most of the game is just clicking through dialogue while enjoying synthwave music, which is great for letting your mind escape, but is not for everyone. I'm definitely enjoying it.

  • Any cozy game recommendations?
  • I haven't played it in years, but I remember getting really cozy vibes from "VA-11 Hall-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action". You basically just talk to customers and hear their stories while serving drinks. I didn't end up playing all the way to the end, but I remember it being really chill and laid back.

Come to think of it, since I didn't know I was trans back when I played it, I'm now wondering if some of the cozy vibes came from diffuse, unrecognized gender euphoria via the female protagonist. Been meaning to play it again to see how it strikes me now.

Actually, this is getting me kind of hype to play it; I think I'll fire it up.

  • Celebrating HRT with some parody lyrics

I just took my first dose of HRT today, and wanted to celebrate by giving something back to this community, which has been so helpful! ❤️

For context, the first two verses practically wrote themselves the first time I read about the effects of estrogenic second puberty in the Gender Dysphoria Bible. When they still hadn't left my brain a few weeks later, I sat down, polished it a bit, and put the rest together. I hope it will amuse! 😁 \ \ \ \ Title: Wouldn't it be Lovel-E? Tune: Wouldn't it be Loverly? (from My Fair Lady) \ \ Some folks they dream of riches, want to win the lottery, hmm While others lust for glory in their field of mastery, hmm Or want to save the world by curing every ill they see, hmm, mmm Wouldn't it be lovely? \ \ All I want is a derrière Shapely hips and a lot of hair But only way up there Oh, wouldn't it be lovel-E?

Lots of chocolate for me to eat Estrogen makes it taste so sweet Warm core, cold hands, cold feet Oh, wouldn't it be lovel-E?

Oh so lovely taking hormones 'til I've had my fill Oh, the changes they would bring But spare me the doctor's bill

Soft skin and sensitivity Plus enhanced flexibility Endowments mammary Oh, wouldn't it be lovel-E? Lovely HRT All for me Lovel-E
