Definitely Brits, but not just Brits - Sweets is the preferred term in much of the English speaking world, with Candy being very distinctly associated with the US.
Yes, but I don't think the person I was replying to was referring to America the landmass given the context and wording - plus even in the context given, it would still be more accurate to say North America, as Southern/Latin America doesn't share the same cultural identity with North America
Canada is in North America the continent, which the US (sometimes referred to as America) is also in - saying Canada is America is like saying Great Britain is Europe
Exactly. They allowed the police to air out the man's dirty laundry when he couldn't defend himself anymore, and used it to justify his murder. Sickening
How can you have nearly all of the available evidence contradict police testimony, including video evidence that clearly points towards them being guilty, and then just decide that they're clearly not guilty anyways?
It feels like a perversion of the law that these officers were able to assault and kill a man in broad daylight, who had (at the time) done nothing wrong short of talking to the police officers, and justify it based on the guy's past crimes.
Except that it is clearly satire - it's poking fun at the idea of anti-intellectualism.
Having said that, one could argue Poe's law - it can be hard to tell these days what's satire and what's not, and not everybody is laughing at anti-intellectualism
Either they're traitors paid off by Russian, or they really are dumb enough to spout off unverified information like they're on Facebook rather than supppsedly helping run a country
Also, why would anything we've seen from Zelensky so far suggest he would be the type to waste his country's precious resources on yachts? That's the behaviour of someone who'd sit out a war they instigated in a bunker.
Wouldn't it be great... People would no longer need to work two jobs to survive, heck some might just stop working altogether - which is great, as it creates an undersaturated job market where employees have way better footing to negotiate.
The only people this doesn't benefit are the uber-wealthy who rely on people needing to work in order to bleed them dry - and for that reason alone, it may very well never come to fruition. Bloody shame ain't it.
Christ - in what world should someone who legitimately tried to pull an insurrection/coup on the country - something that already should've instantly made them an enemy of the country - get to run for its highest office?
It's ridiculous that this even has to be a "longshot legal bid" - it should literally just be ticking a box!
Going after the copyright holder for infringing on your work, which by merely existing commercially infringes on their copyright, is one hell of a way to get sued out the arse...
Having said that, it is a crime that LOTR still hasn't entered the public domain yet.
On the bright side, if our politicians are ever forced to concede and rejoin the EU, they won't have their grandfather privileges anymore, and will actually have to participate fairly like everyone else
