So disappointed

After using Protonmail free for a few years I upgraded to Mail Plus. No issues, works great. Last week I upgraded to Unlimited because it's only 50 cents more per month than paying for Plus and Simplelogin separately and I get much more out of it ... or so I thought.

I tried out Pass, Drive, and VPN and I just have to say how disappointed I am.

Pass - It has the option in the android app of adding custom fields but it doesn't work. The website has it but it's in black theme only which isn't something I can use without massive eye strain.

Drive - It has the option of uploading a folder but it doesn't work. Can't upload photos without installing an app. When photos are uploaded there isn't a search option. So now I have to delete all photos and re-upload them one folder at a time into a folder so they are organized.

VPN - The android app is in black theme only which will give me the aforementioned eye strain.

I just need to vent. Thanks.

The new Passwords app looks great. I'm gonna stick with pass though. #WWDC
  • From what I can see the only thing Proton can do is email. Pass is missing custom fields. Drive can't upload a folder. I haven't used their VPN and after fighting with Pass and Drive I'm not sure I want to try that.

  • What good things are going on with your weekend?
  • My internet went out but my phone has a data plan so I'm good.

The bad part is I'm gonna teach dad how to use his phone data plan to get more ebooks for him and mom to read. That will suck.

Update: The internet was back on this morning. Tech support told dad last night the modem was toast and they are shipping out a new one. Idiots didn't even know they had an outage.

The rain held off long enough for me to get a good start on building a new back deck. Just a small 3x4 foot one.

  • People who still wear masks (and aren't immunocompromised)...
  • Most scented products give me a headache or hurt my throat. I noticed during Covid that my N95 was blocking much of the smells in the stores.

Most likely I'll be wearing a mask for the rest of my life.

A cashier at Walmart asked me why I'm wearing a mask. I had no problem telling him why. Ask your co-worker

Edit: Also, I'm a privacy enthusiast and facial recognition is going to be one of our biggest invasions of privacy.

  • There are basically two classes of cars.

A "hard drive on wheels" which records events encase of an accident - a black box.

The other is a "smartphone on wheels". These are the cars that have an eSim with a full-time internet connection.

  • Airplane mode - callers can leave a message. VoIP - it's connected via wifi or mobile data. I'm in Canada but the three times I checked where my IP says I am, it was in UK or NL. Of course there are alternative OSs for androids.
