Would someone please help me understand when using "they" as a catch-all pronoun is transphobic?
  • The important distinction is what it means for it to "be clear". Unless someone has indicated what their pronouns are, using they/them for everyone is the polite option. But if you're using he/him for strangers just because they're "clearly a cis man", you're now imposing a transphobic bias on those whom you use they/them

  • Perfect games?
  • Ughhhhh I had the exact same experience. It made me feel so bad for having to go to a tutorial after feeling so accomplished from sussing everything else out. And then finding out it was a slight platforming error just left me frustrated with myself and the near perfection of that game

  • If he was purely expressing emotional vulnerability about the loss of his uncle in an otherwise nonadversarial conversation, probably.

If the context included anything about war, politics, military, or even just anything other than his mourning the loss of a family member, heck no.

  • What is a video game that you'd love to play, but no one has developed yet?
  • I would LOVE this. Especially if the war of the ring or other plot was on-going and you could participate as you pleased, potentially shifting the balance one way or the other. The idea of an open world RPG where the world exists and evolves with or without you is my dream. Mount and Blade is almost that, but for being too army/strategy/overworld focused, and the lord of the rings mod for warband had me hooked for a long time before the limitations got to me
