  • FFS why not just be ML and skip the pointless gymnastics?

For all intents and purposes, they basically are MLs, as others responding to my comment have pointed out.

They just ended up reinventing the wheel, through a really weird, round-about way, that I find interesting.

  • Very cool!

Though if I may put on my theory nerd hat, PSL aren't exactly Marxist-Leninists. They're Marcyites, who are trots that accidentally reinvented ML, through Trot talking points.

So, for example, Sam Marcy split from the Socialist Workers Party to form the Workers World Party, and argued that Actually Existing Socialism's were "removedd workers states, like Trotsky asserted, but that this was a necessary stage they all had to pass through, by virtue of having to survive on a planet dominated by Capitalism.

Therefore, the Marcyites support AES, instead of opposing it, like other Trots do.

  • Also, the beloved children's novel, Heidi, is literally right fucking there

  • All the more reason why I don't understand why we're digging up this dead horse to beat it more. Who cares?

I expect more refined dunking from my fellow hexbears

  • Everyone on Hexbear is a liberal, except for me

  • Reposting part of a comment I made in another thread about this, but:

animation across east Asian countries outsources labor between each other all of the time. Your Japanese anime is just as much Korean, Chinese, and Vietnamese at this point, as it is Japanese.

Go look at the credits of most modern anime productions out of Japan, and large swathes of the names you see aren't Japanese, but are from those other countries.

Even a fairly low stakes, low budget, slice of life anime, like Non Non Biyori has Vietnamese names all over its god damn credits, because globalization has impacted the east Asian animation industry in such a way, that there's an large cross pollination of talent across borders, for better and worse.

And that's not to mention the western animation that gets outsourced to these places, South Korea especially.

The fact North Korea is also involved in this complex outsourcing process shouldn't be surprising to anyone who knows anything about how that industry works.

  • It was called The Owl House, and they canceled that show ¯ (ツ) _/¯

  • That one I understand. What I don't get is leaving out something like Burkina Faso. This list is looking at ML States in particular, which is fine, I guess. It leaves out some non ML experiments like Algeria and Venezuela, but Burkina Faso was explicitly ML

  • Yeah, just looked this up. The impetus seems to have been leftist infighting:

In the 1955 general elections, the ruling coalition won 35 of the 60 seats in the Grand and General Council. Five moderate Socialist members of the council wanted to break the alliance with the Communists who were close to the Soviet Union and did not condemn Soviet actions during the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. They left in April 1957 to form a new party, the Sammarinese Independent Democratic Socialist Party (PSDIS). This left a perfect 30–30 split in the council that paralyzed the government. Given the deadlock, the Captains-Regent avoided convening the council until the mandatory 19 September regency election to choose their replacements.

  • Wow basic human rights!!

Rights which German queers gained twice, and subsequently lost. First during the Weimar years, and second in East Germany.

  • I don't even know what part of the franchise this screenshot is from but holy shit, could that name be any more on the nose?

It's a screenshot from Andor, which is one of the few genuinely good, and radical pieces of Star Wars media to come out in a very long time. Please go watch it, it has a heist plot that was inspired by a passage in a biography of young Stalin, where he robbed banks to fund the Bolsheviks.

  • That video of Bill Gates jumping over a chair lives rent free in my head

  • Post

  • "Preemptive"

    "Last resort"

Anyone remember when words meant things?

  • Some Anarchists have even adopted trot talking points. Like this weird milieu of left-anticommunism congealed into a single mass of confused rhetoric.

  • although Marcyism today is much more aligned with international Marxism-Leninism

Can I just say, I kind of love the Marcyites? They're funky little freaks who logiced their way to ML positions, through Trot ideas.

A lot of trot orgs become weird culty sects, but the Marcyites accidentally reinvented ML somehow. It's kinda dumb, and I love it.

  • Find me a corporation that puts up both Ukraine and Palestinian flags. You can’t.

Not a corporation, but I did see an apartment above a corner store that had flags in every window. Palestinian, Ukrainian, that red and white Belorussian flag, Western Saharah.

    Least confused flag haver.
