"High Occupancy?" (by Mike Peters)
  • Ah, now that’s a good argument. I guess I don’t know what I expected when I made that comment, but you stepped up to the plate either way. (I fear this will be taken as condescending, but I assure you I mean it honestly.)

  • "High Occupancy?" (by Mike Peters)
  • Unfortunately, this is a bad argument.

‘Baby’ is not a technical term, and people will generally call newborns, infants, and toddlers ‘babies.’ I wouldn’t really call the fetus out of the question as another subcategory. People would not be called strange to say that it was a baby in there at 38 weeks pregnancy. But that’s a fetus.

A newborn would be ‘full term’ at 38 weeks if it needed out; not even a premie. Yet a newborn is undeniably a ‘baby.’ So why is it not a baby still in uterus?

I’m not arguing in favor of them, mind you. That argument is too annoying for me to want to touch anymore than I did here. Just, you aren’t exactly right either.

  • TIL Circuit City created a proprietary disposable type of DVD called a DIVX that was viewable for only 48 hours after initial viewing unless an additional fee was paid. Which led to bankruptcy
  • It’s not that ironic.

Renting used to exist, and it required you to have a dvd or vhs player. Renting on streaming doesn’t require a ‘special device.’ In fact it is the least special device needed by comparison, as you can watch on so many different devices.

48 hours was pretty common on new release rentals too, if not even less time.

Imagine if instead you needed to buy another tablet that only functioned as a video rental device. And nothing else could watch the rentals. That would be closer to reality.

  • a brief history of self regulation
  • I like how you can tell that the hand slapping and the hand being slapped are from the same person. It draws parallels to just how bought out our politicians are, almost as though the rich are ‘punishing’ themselves.

  • Certainty
  • Since ADHD is also a neurodevelopmental condition, it’s less ‘transfer’ and more just the same notion for a different condition.

Otherwise, yeah, this. I’m ADHD because it is a part of me. I can take medicines to help it, but it is the way I am.
