YouTube isn't happy you're using ad blockers — and it's doing something about it

On the rare times someone decides to check out a new streamer without many viewers they get ads before the stream and most people aren't going to sit through that for a streamer of unknown quality so it makes it even harder for new streamers to get discovered.

  • They will come but Lemmy has tools to defend against it. There's no central authority to sell Lemmy. Anyone can spin up their own instance and any instance can defederate with a corporate one.

  • It is a problem that the left needs to find its own way of responding to. Right now there are a lot of young disillusioned boys who are being left behind by society. They latch onto these radical right wing ideals/grifters who tell them that they can make all their dreams real if they'll buy our memberships and treat people this and that way. Our society is changing and we need some way to help those who are left behind or we will continue to see an increase in radicalized young men!
