[Serious] What's your hot take?
  • The point of that meme as I took it is to illustrate the uncertainty women face when it comes to the intentions of (strange) men. The bear, an actual killer, at least is predictable. Not a criticism of your hot take btw, just sharing my thoughts on this meme.

  • Anon reflects on e-sports
  • My guess would be the TV wasn't in 'game mode'. Which is to say it was doing a lot of post-processing on the image to make it look nicer but costs extra time, delaying the video stream a little.

  • Flawless logic
  • Following this logic there would be no evil in the world to crusade against. If god thought it unjust then he would just resurrect the victims and smite the evildoers.

  • New sexually transmitted fungal infection - ringworm - found in NYC marks 1st case in US
  • I work in microbiology and only recently learned it's actually a fungus.

Disclaimer: I'm sure I've learned about it in the parasitology classes I've had but that was 15 years ago and since then I've been in bacteriology and sequencing.

  • The fuk? Please help me complete this insane captcha
  • I ragequit the puzzles on the rockstar captcha. Incredibly infuriating. I was reminded of the famous greentext from way back predicting we'd have to drink a verification can of mountain dew and for a moment that seemed less insane than the reality of these impossible puzzles. Had to get someone to help me solve them after cooling off for a moment.

  • Biden camp warns Trump could still get re-elected with ‘unhinged campaign of revenge’
  • Same thing goes for the second part. It's a roundabout way to block federal representation of certain groups of people. This is why automatically being blocked to vote because of a conviction shouldn't be a thing. As you say that would (and does) lead to a clusterfuck.

  • Star Citizen Pushes Through the $700 Million Raised Mark and No, There Still Isn’t a Release Date
  • Last I played (couple weeks ago) insurance didn't cost anything. At some point it'll cost in game credits but right now there's no insurance premium. You can spend some credits to expidite the return timer if you can spare it.

  • Star Citizen Pushes Through the $700 Million Raised Mark and No, There Still Isn’t a Release Date
  • What? The point of star citizen is exactly that kind of emerging gameplay. I can almost guarantee the person whose spaceyacht was stolen had fun here too. Nothing was lost, the ships are insured and you can just call them back a short while after they're destroyed.

  • Floating Island Garden
  • You’re the only other one than OP piping up.

Don't forget all the people that were already too tired from this conversation before even participating in it to pipe up and decided to just click on the down arrow instead. Here I am piping up, though. You should change your ways if you genuinely want to "have a discussion". You're very right that you don't have to do that for anybody here, though! We don't give a fuck if you ever do find that discussion you're after. But if that is something you might like in the future you might want to examine the way you go about that. But I get it, it's hard not to stay defensive once you've dug yourself in already.

  • Implications
  • Yes, or someone did show up despite knowing the risks because they trusted Hawking to understand the dangers of revealing the secret of time travel and not sharing it with any living soul. If time travel were to ever become possible and somewhat commonplace then the chances are probably close to zero that everybody chooses not to attend this party (assuming the invitation remains famous for long enough). Perhaps the party was crowded with people thinking the same way.

It's much more likely that it all just played out exactly the way Hawking said it did, of course. But it's a fun thought experiment to play around with.

  • What's the most seeming trivial thing you'll turn down a GF or BF for?
  • I'm fairly certain she didn't lose the ability to laugh. I don't think that's entirely possible. Either you weren't as funny as you think or she was awkward and nervous and that suppressed her real laughter. Or, hang on, there's a third option which is she's rotted her brain by being terminally online to the point where real experiences lose their meaning. Actually now that I think about it, that's probably what you're getting at here.

Fuck, wait a minute, am I losing my touch with reality and human connections?

  • Singles
  • The final frame in this comic portrays strong anger at rejection

No, it doesn't. It shows mild anger at being insulted for no reason. Are you running on the assumption that he's asking her out in this scenario? The only rejection he got was unsolicited. Like if I walk up to the next woman in the street, ask if she's single and when she says "yes" I respond "nevermind, you're not good enough". Now she's upset and understandably so.

I'm in full agreement with your point, but this comic is not a representation of that in any way.

  • Strict Recall Rule
  • The judge would use this sign to make an example of you.

As they should. It seems like common sense that this sign should be enough and anybody that ignores it "is an idiot that has themselves to blame for the discomfort of food poisoning". But it's suddenly a whole different story when your grandma of 82 has died a painful death from severe salmonella infections just because she forgot her reading glasses that day.

The risk of death is tiny but nevertheless an unacceptable risk to assume just so some other people can keep buying their snack for a couple of days instead of shutting down the machine.
