AAA Games Are Dying - It's Time To Indie
  • Yeah, some offense, but the Triple-Eh companies have been "dying" for over a decade now and it doesn't look like they're actually going anywhere anytime soon. Unfortunately.

  • Marvel's Avengers receives hulking discount ahead of delisting
  • Why did you say "garbage" four times in a row? rimshot, obnoxious canned laughter

  • Unity Claims PlayStation, Xbox & Nintendo Will Pay Its New Runtime Fee On Behalf Of Devs
  • Man, I hope the lawyers at the Big Three are getting ready to send Christmas cards to Riccitielo cause, uh, he's pretty much going to be signing their paychecks if he keeps going

SAG-AFTRA National Board Votes Unanimously to Send Interactive Media (Video Game) Strike Authorization Vote to Members

tl;dr: SAG-AFTRA is voting on whether or not to strike against video game companies, with ten major publishers being named in the article

    • Activision Productions Inc.,
    • Blindlight LLC,
    • Disney Character Voices Inc.,
    • Electronic Arts Productions Inc.,
    • Epic Games, Inc.,
    • Formosa Interactive LLC,
    • Insomniac Games Inc.,
    • Take 2 Productions Inc.,
    • VoiceWorks Productions Inc., and
    • WB Games Inc.

(also, I would've thought that the Disney and WB ones would be kind of "rolled in" to the ongoing strike)

Epic is now offering 100% of the revenue to exclusive games for the first 6 months, up from 88%
  • Yeah, not a developer or otherwise someone who works in the gaming industry at all, but a deal like that would definitely remind me about what mom always said about deals that sound too good to be true.

  • Final Fantasy 16 sales did not meet high expectations, says Square Enix president
  • To be fair, that has at least as much to do with the last few entries setting the bar so low. And even then FF14 drops a few stinkers here and there cough Company of Heroes/Titan cough Paladin questline cough

  • Baldur’s Gate 3’s Statement On Microtransactions Warms The Heart
  • The higher the pedestal you put somebody on, the further they have to fall.

  • Evidence Shows AI-Driven Companies Are Buying up Gaming GPUs
  • ah shit here we go again.png

Between this bullshit and what seems like every Triple-Eh publisher suddenly developing massive diamond-hard boners for Denuvo (you're welcome), it's almost enough to make me want to go full Console Peasant. almost.

  • PAYDAY 3 will use Denuvo anti-piracy technology in its PC version
  • Mostly because it looks good for the suits and investors, and since it doesn't actually seem to hurt their sales that much (hint hint)

  • Baldur's Gate 3 is a 122GB download and you can't preload any of it
  • Just one more reason why the obsession with the latest greatest OMGWTF HIGH DEFINITION GRAPHICS is the worst thing to happen to gaming since the Atari Jaguar.

  • PAYDAY 3 will use Denuvo anti-piracy technology in its PC version
  • The point is punishing the people who pay money for this sh*t, apparently (and they will, because for everybody who refuses to buy something that comes with malware bundled in there will be at least two screaming "SHUT UP AND TAKE OUR MONEY!")

  • Switch 2 Rumors
  • No. Bad clickbaiter.

  • Blizzard may ban you for using simple mods in Diablo 4
  • To be "fair", given that for better or worse it's an Always Online game, it's easier to just say "NO MODS ALLOWED, END OF STORY" than to deal with the hassle of strictly defining what is and isn't kosher and dealing with the inevitable rules lawyering from people trying to argue how THEIR MOD is special and doesn't break the rules.

    But yeah, f*ck ActiBliz

  • For self-defense, right? ...right?

  • This is the Tumblr way
  • I thought that on Tumblr, every single character from any popular franchise was bisexual? /halfjoking

  • Grim Dawn Update News: Grim Misadventure #176 - So the New Thing
  • I can certainly vouch for it, I've clocked just over 420 hours (blaze it) playing off-and-on since 2019, and my only major complaints are:

    1. The skill/ability tooltips focus way too much on story fluff and are too vague on what the bleeped thing actually does

    2. The story campaign doesn't entirely play nice with multiplayer, only one player can talk to NPCs and advance/accept/turn in quests

  • Gundam Evolution to end service on November 29
  • Well on the bright side, I'm sure that THIS will be the one that gets developers/publishers to stop spamming the market with so many half-baked Live Service games, and while we're at it, get consumers to stop jumping on The Latest Greatest Live Service, right? laugh/sob

  • What's the most toxic game community you know of?
  • Path of Exile. If you say anything positive about it you get shit for being a mindless fanboy, and if you say anything negative about it you're a mindless hater. Plus the whole "zoom zoom" meta

  • First thing to do...
  • Go home Dad, you're drunk.
