Should we A) colonise other planets or B) build habitats in the middle of space, like O'Neill Cylinders and stuff?
  • How to survive in space: Develop ways to survive in space only first. Once you manage that all the other problems are trivial compared and you don't have a single point of failure (aka our planet) anymore. Isn't that obvious?

  • I suppose this discussion has been had countless times. Also the arguments stay the same. It's not really that much more work and I'm standing next to it while I cook anyway. Also I have limited space so that's more pressing...

  • It's been no issue whatsoever. I've never been on social media to begin with as I've seen and experienced all the predecessors. That was enough to cure me entirely. The odd comment on Reddit and now here is plenty enough drama as is.

  • Why are people downvoting the MediaBiasFactChecker bot?
  • So that bot claims fact already in it's name. I learned to check facts myself. I will never trust automation to do that for me. Also bias and fact are two things that don't go well together. One is measurable the other not at all. And the downvote is for anything I want to see less of.

  • Wood smells like we should be able to eat it, but we can't.
  • There's many aromatic compounds in organic chemistry that are among the most toxic we know. Basically I learned that a sweet teasing smell in the lab means you better get out there, just to be on the safe side...
