  • Fair enough, I don’t think my argument’s solid, I just like to attempt to defend things that get pushback. You’re probably right in general, and maybe they are right in their personal experience which is not representative.

  • Should’ve pinged ash. I understood that subtext. I am unoffended, but defending you.

  • I mean I get the generalization that allo polys would be more overtly sexual than allo monos. I could see the weirdness while respecting “ethical sluts.”

  • Coming to terms with the fact that just because I’m autistic about communism doesn’t mean the average person I get to sympathize will read a fraction of the theory I do.

  • I just heard about missionaries being forced to be annoying so their converts are fanatical and they get to feel persecuted by everyone else and ingrain that perspective.

  • Yeah, I’m thinking more in terms of the commonalities between mystic, Buddhist, ascetic, and abrahamic paths to union with the universe/realizing its emptiness. They are all grasping at the same reality and human potential in different ways.

  • Definitely. I’ve also heard about autistic Christians who care a lot more about the actual teachings than most people who claim the religion. There are many draws: the rules for how to live, the answers of “ultimate truth,” the wealth of knowledge to learn from, the ethics and justice, etc. It’s amazing how little regard most people have for existential issues today, and in the past they’d be satisfied with shallow religious answers from local leaders.

Edit: asexuality, being a hermit, extra dmt in the brain, explicit social rules, bottom up and black and white thought, and more are also bonuses. Being a monk sounds awesome. It’s a pity all the NTs who weren’t cut out for it but would fake stuff for free food.

Also discomfort with thoughts, confused identity, need to suppress impulses, focus on internal world, dispassion with senses… forgot to mention how it totally makes sense trans women used to be religious leaders in many cultures.

  • Fair. I have not gained much from all the parapolitics podcasts I have heard and the remaining ones do not look very relevant.

  • All actions are driven by compassion; skillful, or not actions attempt to relieve suffering of oneself or others. While there are certainly people I would appreciate dying, letting someone live rent free in your head hurts yourself. Incels are victims of capitalism like the rest of us and are worthy of solidarity even if they don’t understand the skillful means to alleviate their suffering right now.

  • Definitely. Comrades may be resistant, but process philosophy is correct and dialectical materialism is of it. Nothing is the same from one moment to the next.

  • You could call it “ego death.” I’m no arbiter of truth but generally I’d consider such by means of entheogens only a temporary glimpse, while it is possible to more constantly see reality past illusions. The “spiritual journey” is actually quite dialectical and in a way the internal or perceptual counterpart to Lenin’s idea of constantly getting closer to reality in the realm of ideas and science.

  • One of the major classic meditation objects is the ‘foulness of the body.’ I wonder how many monks would have been trans. Or autistic? Allistics don’t seem to understand how gross all humans are. Idk.

  • “Enlightenment” is a real physical human possibility (but not necessarily how religious people describe it) that is compatible with dialectical materialism.

  • Empirical idealists are certainly not divorced from practice for example. Not that strict empiricism makes sense, but we do use practice is a criterion of truth.

  • Lenin admits that it’s true though lol. He just says practically it very strong appears and works that the real substance that is subjectively experienced can be interacted with very functionally with materialistic assumptions. From practice (scientific and political) we know that diamat is the most functional system if not necessarily perfect.

  • Remembering the lemmygrad thread where someone suggested we should work with fascists to fight liberalism. Also dialectical materialism denial.

  • Become enlightened so you never end up back here again
