  • Don't forget: Only by voting can the people of NATO be saved from their enemies abroad – and at home!

  • So you're white, an American, and do not consider yourself a colonizer. Quick question: How did your family enter the country?

  • The post seems oddly trusting towards the game developers and hostile towards the people playing it. I don't really care whether some auteur followed his vision of making a game with lots of "friction"; I want to know whether that results in an interesting experience that tells us something about the medium. Maybe it does, but the argument that some hypothetical gamer (who's also excessively anti-microtransactions in a bad way?) wouldn't like this game isn't cutting it for me. Especially when the positive comparisons in this post are to Dark Souls (as usual) – isn't that universally beloved by critics and gamers alike? That's not a strong argument for explaining why DD2 may be unpopular, if it even is, for which I have seen no evidence.

  • If you know about the New York Times crusade against leftists on college campuses, he's the guy who provides them all sorts of "scientific" findings to prove that being on the left is psychologically wrong and bad.

  • Every time people are being nostalgic about "early indies games" or somesuch, I get depressed. Like, that was supposed to be a revolution in video gaming, Mario with worse graphics and an extra gimmick?

  • A website that's completely empty really can't be revisionist, I suppose.

  • Still looking for some positive portrayals of the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution anywhere, really. It's the great taboo, even for leftists. Anyway, watch Breaking with Old Ideas

  • "The Eclectic Parties of Mao Zedong", coming to a bookseller near you this fall!

  • This is where you end up if you can't accept that Hegel has already written the last word in philosophy, so there's no more need for "pure philosophers".

  • Imagining a software project where everyone believes they are the manager and no one is doing any work. This will surely show those Hexbears

  • Frankly, this just seems embarrassing for everyone involved in this "debate". I'm tired of dunking on debate streamers, total low-hanging fruit.

  • Not to put too fine a point on it, but Luna-Terra is so transition goals

  • lmao This is exactly why the word "theyfab" was coined. To be precise: Simultaneously claiming that femaleness is based on birth assignment, which is just basic transphobia, and also professing a nonbinary identity without any attempt to reconcile this contradiction is a kind of egoism born out of a half-hearted understanding of transfeminism. And of course it always ends in transmisogyny, because if all AFABs get a "happy woman's day", what gender is left for the rest of us?

  • I like games where you can't fail :)

  • I saw that too and I just want to say that I was really disappointed in Hexbear for that one. We pride ourselves on having lots of trans people, but obviously there's a real lack of understanding and theory when it comes to transmisogyny.

  • I just want to note that from everything I've read about this, it's specifically trans women being targeted, not just trans people in general. It's not (just) transphobia, it's transmisogyny. And some of the online discussions I've been seeing about this are using the chance to complain about how trans women talking about their specific oppression are the real transphobes anyway, which is infinitely infuriating to me.

  • I've just seen an unsourced statistic online that a third of the people arrested for antisemitism in Germany as of late are Jewish. Obviously, I can't find anything on this in the media or on Google, though I regularly hear of individual cases. Does anyone have a real source on this or is it just a rumor?
